MOT View: 49ers must have a word, millions there for Leeds after pop superstar's admission

49ers Enterprises group could pull off a masterstroke after Olivia Rodrigo's recent comments on Leeds United . The pop superstar admitted that she wants to visit the city of Leeds, and the question of attending a game was proposed. Her response did not exactly suggest that it is out of the equation, so the ownership should take advantage. She said: “I really want to go to Leeds this year. I think that’ll be fun. Just like as a spectator, I think that’ll be cool," and then when Hits Radio UK host Will Best asked her about a match, she said: “Yeah, ok, ok, ok.” The Whites have not yet made enough of the commercial opportunities that come with being a Premier League club. They could change that by linking up with Rodrigo, who is a genuine superstar in pop music at the moment, and is only becoming more popular. What should 49ers do after Olivia Rodrigo's Leeds comments The Leeds ownership group should proposition the California-born singer to perform at Elland Road, when she tours in 2027. That would work out much better than just attending a match, as the Whites would benefit financially, rather than just the hype of her going to the game. It will be a clear money-spinner and they will be seeing the potential millions already. Olivia Rodrigo to rock up at Leeds United game as she shares what she 'really wants' Why 49ers should make Rodrigo arrangement Having Rodrigo perform in LS11 makes far too much sense for the Peacocks from a business perspective. She has over 64million monthly listeners on streaming platform Spotify and could bring a new legion of casual fans to the club, if it happens. It would expand the club's reach in the United States and other parts of the world where she has supporters, as well as creating branding and merchandise opportunities. It is a no-brainer for the ownership, if they can convince the singer to do it, and add a date at the famous stadium to her plans. In terms of revenue alone, a near 40,000-seater stadium hosting a concert could earn between £500,000 and £1.5m in net profit and also boost the local economy. It may not be achievable as Rodrigo may already have the dates and venues locked in, but if it is possible, they should try to do it. It would be a masterclass and also allow the 23-year-old to realise her ambition of coming to the city at the same time.

MOT View: Leeds officials will love what happened in World Cup game involving summer target

Ousmane Diomande is an exciting name on Leeds United's transfer shortlist, but he was snubbed in Ivory Coast's opening World Cup match. The African nation secured a last-gasp winner to pick up three points in their inaugural group game, but Diomande had to watch from the bench. It was quite a surprise to see the Sporting defender not selected, but ultimately, after keeping a clean sheet, Emerse Fae was rewarded for his decision. With Diomande high up on Leeds' shortlist, there may have been many hoping to catch a glimpse of the qualities he has to offer. But, now, those same people may have to wait in order to watch the Leeds target in action. For officials at Elland Road, they may actually hope he does not start a single game at the 2026 World Cup. Why Leeds will be happy with Ousmane Diomande snub The World Cup has the ability to create stars overnight and transfer fees can certainly become inflated. Strong performances on the world stage can put any star into the shop window, and Leeds will be hoping none of their targets make a major splash. In the case of Diomande, they likely got their wish. In Ivory Coast's 1-0 win against Ecuador, the Sporting star got zero minutes. Furthermore, in his place, both Wilfried Singo and Emmanuel Agbadou put on exceptional performances, making his route into the starting squad all the more difficult. Diomande is already holding quite the high fee, with Leeds reportedly poised to break their transfer record. They may be thankful that the Ivorian could now have a limited chance to artificially increase both his price and options in the market. Ousmane Diomande: Leeds target started on 'sandy pitch' and became Ruben Amorim star When are Ivory Coast's next World Cup games? Of course, with strong interest held in Diomande, fans may be wanting to keep a look out just in case he gets to start. For supporters based in the UK, the kick-off times for the final two group games are quite kind. Ivory Coast will face Germany on Saturday, 20 June at 9 pm BST. Meanwhile, they will face Curacao on Thursday, 25 June at 9 pm BST. After their three points against Ecuador, one win should secure Ivory Coast and Diomande's place in the round of 32, while one point would likely see them qualify as one of the best third-placed teams at minimum.

Exit-linked Leeds player only thinking of Premier League as transfer question asked

Ilia Gruev is moving into the summer off the back of a difficult campaign with Leeds United . The Bulgaria international featured for the first time in the Premier League since moving to Elland Road. He joined the Whites in the Championship and had a positive impact when he was available to Daniel Farke . Injuries have taken a toll on his time in Yorkshire and have reduced him to just 51 appearances in the past two season. Only 23 of those came in the Premier League as other options were utilised in the middle of the park last season. That doesn't appear to have impacted Gruev's mentality as he looks to the summer and beyond. Ilia Gruev bats away Bundesliga return question The 26-year-old's future has been questioned in LS11 due to his lack of availability. He was an unused 12 times throughout the season, while being unavailable for a further six. His performances haven't been too great when the chance has come, but that can't be a surprise with the stop-start nature of his campaign. If he were to discuss a departure over the summer there wouldn't be much surprise, although he isn't thinking that way. Speaking in an interview with his former side Werder Bremen , he was asked whether he would like to return to the Bundesliga, but Gruev didn't give in to the speculation. He said: "You can always imagine anything. But I have to say that I really appreciate the Premier League and I really enjoy playing here. Of course, I still follow the Bundesliga, but my focus is on the league in England." Leeds United players react in unison as Ilia Gruev lands new award - 'Incredibly honoured' Gruev should be awarded for Leeds United loyalty After such a difficult few years in LS11, the Bulgarian wouldn't be blamed for wanting a new challenge. With the likes of Anton Stach and Ethan Ampadu doing so well, minutes are always going to be at a premium for other midfield options. That hasn't knocked Gruev and he is still showing signs that he wants to fight and better Farke's side. He adds in the interview with Werder Bremen that he wants Leeds "to become an established Premier League club again", which seems to be his main goal right now. That sort of mentality could be the perfect reason to give him a new contract as his current deal runs out at the end of next season. Leeds needs players who want to play at Elland Road and it is clear that Gruev fits the bill.

MOT View: 'Exquisite' Leeds target showcases quality Farke will love in World Cup display

Ayase Ueda enjoyed a successful campaign in the Eredivisie, earning himself interest from Leeds United . The Japan international ended the league campaign as the top scorer in the Netherlands top-flight, with the 27-year-old now the starting striker for his nation. Interestingly, Ueda's first appearance in the 2026 World Cup would come up against the nation in which he plays his football - the Netherlands. Those interested in signing him, including Leeds, will no doubt have been paying attention as the Asian nation snatched a 2-2 draw in the dying moments. However, for Ueda, he may not be too happy to have many eyes on him with the transfer window officially open as he was quite quiet in an attacking sense. As the world watched on, the 27-year-old failed to make an impact but Daniel Farke will not be put off for one key reason. How Leeds target Ayase Ueda performed against the Netherlands Japan are a growing nation in football, and their squad is filled with a plethora of talent. Ueda is certainly one of those, even if he did not show his true qualities in the opening game of Group F. With the Netherlands dominating the ball, Ueda could barely get involved in the game. He had just 15 touches throughout the match. However, despite his limited touches, there were still plenty of bright moments from the striker. In those few touches of the ball, Ueda did manage to create one chance for his country, as well as complete his only attempted dribble. Ueda also battled well, winning 60 per cent of his ground duels. So, while he did not have as much impact as he would have hoped, in his few moments, he showed glimpses. Additionally, not much blame can be attached to the striker, with Japan being quite timid in their attack for much of the game. Leeds United's World Cup representation at comical levels after Ao Tanaka development Why Farke would have been impressed with Ueda While the statistics show Ueda being uninvolved, the truth is that his pressing and work rate were key for Japan. Ueda had the job of putting pressure on midfielder Frenkie de Jong, and he did that effectively throughout the match. Farke would have enjoyed that off-the-ball work, and Ueda's home nation of Japan were also full of praise for it. According to the outlet, Football Channel JP , Ueda was awarded a 6.5 rating as he "completely neutralized [Frenkie] de Jong with his exquisite positioning." So, the forward may have gone under the radar for his hard work for Japan but knowing Farke, he would have taken notice of those small details.

Music superstar talked into attending Leeds game next season

Olivia Rodrigo may have been talked into attending a Leeds United match. The pop superstar, who has over 64 million monthly listeners on streaming platform Spotify, has revealed her desire to come to the city. The Whites have established themselves as Premier League side after their first season back in the big time, where they finished 14th and stayed up comfortably. After she shared her wish to visit West Yorkshire, the idea of coming to Elland Road was raised. The California-born singer did not exactly shoot down the idea and instead sounded enthusiastic when she responded. We could see her in LS11 sooner rather than later, if something can be sorted out when the new season starts. What did Olivia Rodrigo say about Leeds? Rodrigo could be seen in the famous stadium in the near future, as she may have been talked into attending for the new campaign. Speaking on Hits Radio, she said: “I really want to go to Leeds this year. I think that’ll be fun. Just like as a spectator, I think that’ll be cool.” Host Will Best responded with: “Go to a Leeds match...” Rodrigo replied: “Yeah, ok, ok, ok.” Leeds United are not messing around with Elland Road works after latest Pete Lowy comments Could Rodrigo join Leeds' famous legion of supporters Leeds have a load of famous supporters, who have made appearances at matches. Former boxing champions Josh Warrington and Katie Taylor, Olympians Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee are all fans of Daniel Farke 's side. Comedian Maisie Adam, Ricky Wilson and Simon Rix of the Kaiser Chiefs and Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis are all also Whites supporters. Manchester City star Erling Haaland is also a fan, having been born in the city when his father played for the club. Maybe they could add Rodrigo to the list, if she does actually attend a game and has a good time in the stands. Regardless, having her at a match would likely drive a revenue boost and pick up new casual supporters, as she clearly has legions of dedicated fans all across the world. That would surely only help the Peacocks, in their attempts to establish themselves as one of the biggest clubs in the country. They had been in the doldrums of the Championship and even League One for years, but now it appears that they could become giants again. Attracting one of the biggest celebrities at the moment, if they can pull it off, will only help their appeal to the masses.

MOT View: Leeds have Premier League-leading weapon Farke can't lose

Leeds United scored 49 goals in the Premier League last season, and Jayden Bogle played a bigger role in that than many may realise. The 25-year-old faced some question marks over whether he'd be a viable starting option for Leeds in the Premier League. Indeed, he was relegated from the top flight with Sheffield United twice prior to his Elland Road move, with the latest coming in 2023-24. Bogle started 32 times in the Premier League for Blades that year, and as a result, hadn't yet proven himself at the level. He had, however, shown himself to be a quality performer in the Championship, thus prompting Daniel Farke to take a chance on him in the summer of 2024. And so whilst he may not have provided 10 goal contributions last term as he did in 2024-25, Bogle was invaluable to Leeds in a key area of the pitch; one which may surprise a lot of people. Where did Jayden Bogle lead Premier League in 2025-26? Starting 32 of Leeds' 38 Premier League games in 2025-26, Bogle was trusted with retaining his role as Farke's primary right-back option. His performances didn't routinely grab headlines or earn him any end-of-season awards, and thus, his contribution perhaps went under the radar slightly. That can happen when you're an uber-reliable and consistent performer though, as fans grow used to solid displays on the regular. But, there was one department that Bogle was far from solid in last season, rather, he was the best in the Premier League. As per FotMob , no Premier League right-back won more possessions in the final third than Bogle's 16 in 2025-26, proving just how instrumental he is to the Whites' attack. Looking at his one goal and two assists from 34 league outings last term, however, and it's easy to forget or simply not realise his importance. Leeds United can cash in on Jayden Bogle after James Justin heroics at Elland Road Why Bogle is primed to become assist machine in 2026-27 With Leeds now plotting another ambitious summer transfer window after their impressive debut season back in the Premier League, Farke will no doubt be looking to strengthen in attack. Should the Whites welcome some new quality forward additions to Elland Road over the coming weeks, then Bogle could be the biggest beneficiary of a sharpened Leeds cutting edge next term. His seven big chances created last season ranked him in the top 7.1 percentile of all Premier League right-backs. Meanwhile, his 70 touches in the opposition box and 3.16 expected assists (xA) placed him in the leading 8.3 and 11.9 percentiles among his positional peers respectively. Contracted with the Whites until the summer of 2028, Bogle shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. And, given his league-leading ability to win the ball high up the pitch, Farke would be losing a major weapon in his tactical armoury without him.

MOT View: Farke's Leeds plan looks abundantly clear amid latest transfer links

Daniel Farke will be looking to take Leeds United to the next level in 2026-2027. The German spoke about needing to set new goals at Elland Road if he were to continue on as manager, and those goals can only be achieved with change. While Farke managed to avoid relegation with the Whites, he did so using a style of play that has not been associated with the 49-year-old. The Leeds boss enjoys controlling possession and creating chances through controlled transitions and making central overloads. However, after it failed to work in the opening months of the 2025-2026 season, his decision to use a differing system came up trumps. Now, though, he could be set to revert to his favoured style of play amid the latest transfer links. What does Leeds' latest transfer links say about their plans? Leeds are looking to strentgehn at centre-back but the type of profiles they are being linked with is the interesting part. The LS11 outfit have been heavily touted for a move for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande , and now in recent days, Parma's Mariano Troilo. Both centre-backs are extremely comfortable on the ball, touting high pass accuracy - Diomande at 93 per cent and Troilo at 89 per cent as per Sofascore . This is of course is in line with what Farke's current options currently average in and around. However, the interesting part is how well-equiped both are at long-passing. Baiting the press and then going long is an excellent method of creating those controlled transitions that Farke has previously sought. Diomande comes in with a 67 per cent success, and completes three long passes on average per game. Meanwhile, Troilo comes in with a 51 per cent accuracy with 2.1 success per game. Among Leeds' current squad, the highest is Jaka Bijol at 50 per cent, but he does not possess the same short-passing qualities of the two aforementioned targets. Leeds United ready to go extreme and make history to sign Ousmane Diomande Who would benefit from the signing of Diomande or Troilo? If Leeds were to sign the Ivorian or Argentine defender, then the wide attackers would be likely be the highest beneficiaries. With that long-passing ability, baiting the press would potentially create an opening for the wingers to run into and Diomande or Troilo could then pick them out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin would then benefit from the wingers getting into space, and would get plenty more chances to score. If Leeds are to push up the table and away from the relegation battle, they do need to evolve. Being able to create artificial transitions from the centre-backs is one way Farke could go about it.

Leeds transfer latest: All you need to know as summer window officially open

Leeds United could be set for change as the summer transfer window officially opens on Monday. The Whites are coming off the back of an ideal first campaign back in the Premier League after promotion. There were some sticky spells under Daniel Farke , but a mid-season run of form helped carry the LS11 away from danger. The Elland Road outfit finished 14th, eight points clear of the bottom three as West Ham, Burnley and Wolves went down. Leeds will now have eyes on solidifying themself in the top flight moving into a new season. Transfers will be imperative to do exactly that as MOT Leeds News rounds up everything you need to know about the summer window. Leeds United eye Ousmane Diomande and many other targets The LS11 outfit are yet to seal a transfer, but there has been no shortage of links in the weeks and days before the window opened. One target is Sporting star Ousmane Diomande as a deal in the region of around £43million could be on the cards this summer. Reports suggest that Leeds want to wrap a deal up quickly and the 22-year-old is willing to move. A transfer is yet to be sealed and that has seen other links to other defensive targets like Wolves star Ladislav Krejci and Parma man Mariano Troilo emerge. Nick Pope is also of interest at Elland Road as a new goalkeeper, while attacking reinforcements have also been linked. Roony Bardghji , Lois Openda , Harry Wilson and Mohamed Amoura could make moves to add to the forward line as rumours swirl. Starlets for the future have also been of interest with 16-year-old winger Silva Mexes set to sign from Manchester United . There is plenty of interest bubbling under the surface at Elland Road that could soon come to the boil. Leeds United ready to raise ceiling with headline new transfers as sources speak out Jack Harrison set to lead exit transfers from Leeds If there is going to be plenty of incomings in West Yorkshire, there will also be outgoings to match. Jack Harrison is expected to be one of those after spending last season on loan with Serie A outfit Fiorentina. A return to MLS could be on the cards for the winger, while Largie Ramazani and Max Wober could seal a permanent exits after their own loan deals. It may prove to be a similar story for Joe Gelhardt who faces an uncertain future in LS11 after earning promotion at Hull City. Those departures feel pretty inevitable, but a move for Karl Darlow would come as more of a surprise. Manchester United are interested in the shot-stopper and could make him their new number two for the upcoming campaign. Another goalkeeping exit could be on the cards with Lucas Perri after a far from ideal first season in the Premier League. The boost for the Whites in all this exit talk is that Ethan Ampadu won't be going anywhere after he penned a new deal earlier in June. There is likely to be plenty of movement at Elland Road this summer, but it could be set to improve their prospects moving into the new Premier League campaign.

MOT View: Leeds' World Cup representation at comical levels after day four developments

Leeds United midfielder Ao Tanaka was an unused substitute as Japan battled to a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands. Tanaka had been tipped by many to start at Dallas Stadium, but he did feature for a single minute. The 27-year-old instead watched on in Arlington as Daichi Kamada snatched a dramatic point late on. Keito Nakamura had earlier scored for Japan between goals from Virgil van Dijk and Crysencio Summerville in Sunday night's entertaining clash. Tanaka's situation pretty much summed up how things have gone for Leeds so far in the opening round of World Cup group games. And matters did not improve too much later on when Gabriel Gudmundsson took to the field for Sweden. Leeds players being overlooked at World Cup Tanaka was not the only Leeds player who has remained an unused substitute across the first four days of the global showpiece. Brenden Aaronson surprisingly failed to get off the bench for the United States in their 4-1 win over Paraguay. However, the scoreline in that contest perhaps justifies Mauricio Pochettino's decision. There was less of an excuse for Noah Okafor not to feature in Switzerland's 1-1 draw with Qatar. The Swiss led 1-0 but struggled to add a second, yet Okafor was overlooked among the subs and Qatar earned a shock late draw. With Tanaka not featuring for Japan, it meant three out of three Leeds players had been snubbed by that point. Gudmundsson stopped the rot when named in Sweden's starting line-up against Tunisia. But Leeds fans would perhaps have preferred him to go the same way as his clubmates as Gudmundsson left the field injured. Speaking after Sweden's 5-1 thrashing of Tunisia, boss Graham Potter played down injury fears as he said it was likely just cramp. Leeds United: Sweden media slam Gabriel Gudmundsson as he 'fails' in World Cup opener What's next for Leeds' World Cup representatives? There are no more Leeds players at the tournament beyond those mentioned, so it is now a case of waiting for the second round of games. Aaronson's USA face Australia on Friday night, while Okafor's Switzerland are in action against Bosnia and Herzegovina 24 hours earlier. Tanaka will hope to get his first minutes when Japan take on Tunisia in the early hours of Sunday morning. And Gudmundsson is now looking to prove his fitness ahead of Sweden against the Netherlands on Saturday. Hopefully the next round of games gives the Leeds quartet more of a chance to show what they are capable of.

Int'l manager delivers instant injury update after Leeds star hobbles off at World Cup

Leeds United star Gabriel Gudmundsson left Sweden's World Cup win over Tunisia through injury. The left wing-back started Sweden's opening World Cup game in the early hours of Monday morning UK time. Gudmundsson had recently missed five weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during Leeds' FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea . He'd also been battling an illness over the past few days, leaving his inclusion for Sweden's tournament opener in some doubt. But the Whites star was able to be fit in time for Graham Potter to feel comfortable starting him against Tunisia. However, a thumping 5-1 win was overshadowed slightly by Gudmundsson having to leave the match in the second half after being unable to continue through injury. What has Graham Potter said on Gabriel Gudmundsson injury? Just after the hour mark in the game and with Sweden 3-1 up at the time, Gudmundsson went down and was in clear discomfort. He made the universal gesture towards his bench that he needed to come off, and that's exactly what happened with 64 minutes on the clock. Sweden wouldn't rue his injury on the night, as they went on to score a further two goals to cap off what was a very impressive opening win over the Tunisians. But the 27-year-old is an important player for them, and would certainly feel his absence if he's forced to miss further matches in the tournament. Thankfully, though, that doesn't appear to be the case, with Sweden boss Potter providing a comforting update on his condition after full-time. Speaking to SVT via SvenskaFans.com , Potter said of Gudmundsson's injury status: "I just think it was a cramp." How Potter handles his minutes in the tournament going forward will be interesting though, with Daniel Farke undoubtedly watching on closely. Leeds United: Sweden media slam Gabriel Gudmundsson as he 'fails' in World Cup opener How did Gudmundsson perform vs Tunisia? Prior to being replaced, Gudmundsson was enjoying a good performance too, despite not being able to provide a goal involvement in Sweden's first three strikes. As per FotMob , he completed 83 per cent of his passes, made five clearances, four recoveries, two interceptions and two tackles respectively. He also won four his six ground duels and all three of his aerial duels, as well as winning three fouls, playing one pass into the final third and being dispossessed zero times. Sweden's next game is against the Netherlands on Saturday, so Gudmundsson does have a week to shake off this injury and hopefully be ready in time for that big game in Group F.

National media criticise Leeds star after he 'fails' in World Cup opener

Leeds United 's Gabriel Gudmundsson struggled despite Sweden's 5-1 win over Tunisia in the early hours of Monday morning. The Whites star's participation was in doubt as he has been dealing with an illness and injury, and that may have affected his performance. The Elland Road star was substituted in the 64th minute of the contest in Guadalupe. The Swedes won comfortably with two goals from Brighton's Yasin Ayari and strikes from Liverpool's Alexander Isak, Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg. However, Gudmundsson's showing was not one that made the headlines, and he was criticised in the national media. He will hope to bounce back when they face the Netherlands on 20 June, if he is available for the clash. What did the Swedish media say about Leeds star Gabriel Gudmundsson? The LS11 star did not impress in the World Cup opener, with a display that did not reflect his club form. Expressen handed him a two out of five rating, saying: "Gets a bit of a ball-watcher and fails, together with [Gustaf] Lagerbielke, to mark Rekik when the reducing goal comes. "Otherwise, a competent effort. Manages to combine well on the left wing a few times.” Meanwhile, Fotbollskanalen gave him a slightly more generous three out of five, saying: "A clearly acceptable effort. Had a lot of control defensively (could have possibly removed the cross at Tunisia's goal?) and took his runs along the edge, but seemed to be in pain. "Has otherwise been ill and signalled for a substitution himself after an hour.” Leeds United: Gabriel Gudmundsson will have new fears over Sweden World Cup role Why Leeds will be concerned about more than Gudmundsson's performance Gudmundsson's performance alone will not be the main concern for Daniel Farke 's side. They will be more concerned about the injury issue that forced him off just after the hour mark. The Peacocks will pray that it is just a small issue, one that will not hamper the start of their campaign in a few months time. He has just returned from a hamstring problem which kept him out for five weeks, so another issue would be far from ideal for the Yorkshire side. The Swedish star is one of their best performers, an inspired signing for £10million, and they need him to stay fit and have a strong first few weeks back in the club game. Farke and Whites supporters will be keeping a very close eye on the rest of his tournament, and monitoring how the injury issues develop. It would have been ideal if the former Lille man could have had a brilliant showing in the showcase and come back to Thorp Arch with confidence. However, he may now come back still recovering either physically or mentally , which does not bode well for the Whites' preparations for another top-flight season.

MOT View: Leeds star can't afford to waste his Premier League-leading attribute

Pascal Struijk has built much of his Leeds United success on being a key contributor in attack. Signed all the way back in January 2018 from Ajax, the Dutchman has been an excellent investment by Leeds. He's been part of two Championship title-winning seasons and has enjoyed four Premier League campaigns during his time at Elland Road so far. Struijk has made 198 appearances for Leeds, with 37 of those coming in all competitions during the 2025-26 season. A physical and combative centre-back, he's just played a key role in helping Daniel Farke 's side to a 14th-placed finish in their first term back in the top flight too. However, with his contract expiring next summer, Struijk's long-term Leeds future is firmly up in the air right now. Where Pascal Struijk led the Premier League in 2025-26 Prior to the 2025-26 campaign, Struijk netted five goals in all competitions in each of his previous two seasons for Leeds. Indeed, he'd scored in every single Whites campaign dating back to the 2020-21 term heading into last season. Unfortunately, Struijk wasn't able to keep that run going this past year, failing to find the net as well as providing just the one assist. It wasn't for a lack of trying nor opportunities either, as per FotMob , no Premier League centre-back registered more headed shots on goal than Struijk's 26 last season. Meanwhile, his 31 total attempts on goal ranked him in the top 2.2 percentile of his top-flight positional rivals in 2025-26. So, with his goals and attacking input such a big aspect of his Leeds success so far, these numbers coupled with his lack of production are concerning. Scoring goals obviously isn't a centre-backs main responsibility, but when it's been a proven element of a certain player's game such as it has been with Struijk, it is worrying when that's not the case for whatever reason. Leeds United: Pascal Struijk and Wilfried Gnonto react to emotional Illan Meslier message Why Struijk is key tactical cog for Leeds With that being said, there's absolutely no doubt that Leeds should be doing everything they can to ink Struijk to a new long-term contract. At 26 and now entering the prime of his career as a central defender, Struijk is an uber-reliable performer for Farke and is a big part of the dressing room given how long he's been at Elland Road for. Aside from that, Struijk is also the only left-footed centre-back currently in the Whites' first-team ranks, and so to lose that would be a big blow to Farke's tactical approach. Having a left-footer in central defence opens up the passing lanes that are typically blocked for right-footers, enabling for greater ease when playing out from the back and building in attack. In summary, Struijk brings too many qualities to the table for Leeds to lose, but if he is to stay beyond this summer, he will need to ensure that goals are back on the menu next season.

MOT View: Leeds have key advantage over 27-y/o despite int'l snub

Leeds United can get ready for Anton Stach to get even better next season. The German midfielder joined from TSG Hoffenheim last summer, finishing the season as one of the Premier League's best additions. Despite this, the 27-year-old would miss out on a place in Julian Nagelsmann's World Cup squad, with Stach not aided by a string of injuries in the second half of the season. Whites fans were naturally bewildered by the decision, especially with Stach passed fit at the end of the season. But this does come with its benefits for Daniel Farke, who is looking to further progress with his side after securing survival. As Leeds aim for exactly that, Stach could become even more crucial, with the coming summer arriving to his aid. Leeds and Anton Stach can benefit from Germany situation Making the move at the end of July last year, Stach did not exactly have months to get up to speed before the start of the season. Despite this, he settled into life in the Premier League seamlessly, even during a period when Leeds were struggling at the bottom. Possessing superb physical qualities, a wand of a right foot and creative instincts, the German did not once look out of place in English football. However, Leeds themselves would get better as the season progressed, with the final iteration of Farke's side a completely different team to the one seen in August. Having a full pre-season with the side will only aid Stach in this regard, especially as he recovers fully from a string of injuries that saw him in and out of the team between February and May. Each time he returned, a setback would soon follow, with no break to get fully back up to speed. As disappointing as it is to miss out on the World Cup, it could well benefit the midfielder in the long run, allowing him to bring a frustrating run of issues to an end. Leeds United's best performers 2025-26 - Ethan Ampadu kept off top spot by cult figure Stach trait vital to Leeds moving forward For a bargain fee of £17million, there weren't many, if any, signings across the Premier League who could match the contribution of Stach. Scoring five times and registering three assists in the league, he more than chipped in in this regard, while his presence was sorely missed when he was unavailable. Capable in all three thirds of the pitch, he is incredibly versatile, with his height and physicality being a huge asset that Farke must look to build around. But importantly, as Leeds aim to become more of a possession-based outfit once again, they have someone readily available to play this style - someone who fans may have not even seen the very best of just yet.

View: Leeds-linked star has can't-teach Whites trait - and Elland Road history

Gus Hamer is once again a reported Leeds United transfer target this summer, and he's no stranger to Elland Road. The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds for some time now, having firmly established himself as a top Championship player. Having joined Sheffield United in the summer of 2023 from Coventry City , he's gone on to score 22 goals and provide 27 assists in 123 competitive appearances for Blades. Indeed, Hamer was named as the Championship's Player of the Season for the 2024-25 term, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists in 44 appearances (including the play-offs). Last season saw him net seven times and produce a career-high of 12 assists in 39 outings across all competitions. But, with his Blades contract expiring in the summer of 2027, now may finally be the right time for him to make his Bramall Lane exit. Gus Hamer was Elland Road guest in 2024 For how talented a player he is, it would be a shame for Hamer to finish his career having only spent one season playing in the Premier League. That came in 2023-24 for Sheffield United, where he was still able to score four goals and grab six assists in a Blades side that finished rock-bottom of the top flight that year. And, amid swirling rumours of a transfer to Leeds in the summer of 2024, Hamer certainly whipped Whites fans into a frenzy after he was revealed to have visited Elland Road. Leeds had signed his Sheffield United teammate Jayden Bogle earlier that summer, and so for a pre-season friendly against Valencia, the new Whites defender invited Hamer to come and watch the match. Gus Hamer was at Elland Road today with Rian Brewster as a guest of Jayden Bogle. As confirmed by the Leeds man himself. #lufc — Graham Smyth (@GrahamSmyth) August 3, 2024 Understandably, this had a number of Leeds supporters believing that Hamer was destined to sign on the dotted line, but he was allowed to escape LS11 without having given the Whites his signature. Since then, the idea of the Dutchman across Yorkshire has continuously been flirted, but the stars appear to be aligned stronger than ever to make that a reality this summer. Leeds are now bathing in the riches of a successful Premier League campaign, Hamer is entering the final 12 months of his contract and Sheffield United look to be in some financial difficulty. Leeds United to pry on Sheffield United vulnerability for Gus Hamer transfer Hamer has Leeds trademark trait To play for, and be a success story, at Leeds United, you have to have that something extra about you. Leeds fans are some of the most vocal and passionate in English football, and they've always loved those players who play with character and have that quirkiness about them. Hamer has that in abundance, combining an aggressive and fiery temperament with technical brilliance oozing with confidence and flair. In short, he just looks like a Leeds player, and with him still in the prime of his career, there's surely no better time than now to finally make him one.

Int'l manager provides availability update on Leeds star after World Cup scare

Gabriel Gudmundsson had been struggling with illness this week, leaving the Leeds United star's inclusion in Sweden's World Cup opener in doubt. Leeds have several players who are owed for the success they achieved in the Premier League last season, and Gudmundsson was towards the top of that list. The former Lille star played an influential role for the Whites from the start of the campaign to the very end. As a result, he earned yet another call-up to the Sweden squad ahead of the World Cup. However, his inclusion for the opening game had been in doubt after it was revealed that the Leeds star was suffering from an illness. Sweden's press officer previously stated that he was in a bad state, with a new update provided by Graham Potter . Sweden handed boost in form of Leeds star ahead of Tunisia clash As he did for Leeds last season, Gudmundsson has been vital for his national team, ever since making his debut back in 2022. Since then, he has made 22 appearances for his country, and his chances of making a 23rd in the early hours of Monday morning have received a huge boost. Speaking ahead of the clash with Tunisia, as quoted by the Sweden Herald , Potter said: "If he does well in training [on Saturday], he should be able to play." After Noah Okafor 's snub in Switzerland's 1-1 draw with Qatar, Gudmundsson will hope to fly the flag for Leeds - as will Ao Tanaka for Japan against the Netherlands in the earlier kick-off. Leeds United: Gabriel Gudmundsson will have new fears over Sweden World Cup role How to watch Gudmundsson in action for Sweden Presuming he gets the green light from Potter in training, Gudmundsson is almost certain to start for Sweden in the early hours of Monday. And fortunately for those of a Leeds persuasion, you will be able to tune in, though maybe not if you find yourself in employment. Sweden will face Tunisia at 3am GMT time on Monday morning, with the game set to be broadcast live to UK viewers via ITV1, with the programme due to start at 2:30am. Gudmundsson's last appearance for Sweden was on 4 June, when he played 63 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Greece.

MOT View: Leeds 'perfect fit' to fume after surprise World Cup snub

Leeds United attacker Noah Okafor will be feeling frustrated after his early World Cup experience. After an excellent season at Elland Road, Okafor joined up with the Swiss national team as they headed Stateside for the tournament. In their opening match against Qatar on Saturday evening, the Schweizer Nati would play out a 1-1 draw. The Swiss proved toothless in San Francisco, with multiple players missing huge chances to extend their 1-0 lead from the first half. Typically, Qatar would go on to equalise in the dying moments, punishing Switzerland for their errors in the final third. Despite this, Okafor would not play a single minute on the pitch, likely leaving him questioning his worth under boss Murat Yakin. Noah Okafor will wonder what else he can do as Switzerland stumble Taking the lead through a Breel Embolo penalty in the 17th minute, the Swiss looked as if they would be on for a comfortable win. And with no disrespect to Julen Lopetegui's Qatar side, this is exactly how the match should have panned out. With 68 per cent of the ball and 527 accurate passes, the Swiss registered 26 shots - forging an expected goals tally of 3.20 compared to the 0.60 of their opponents. The concerning facts: Switzerland hit the target just seven times across the 90, while they missed a whopping six big chances, with left winger Ruben Vargas missing two of these himself. Naturally, they would be punished, as Hamburg defender Miro Muheim headed into his own net in the 94th minute. Even with this taken into account, Leeds attacker Okafor did not see a minute of action, despite scoring eight Premier League goals from an xG of 5.26 this term. Watching his teammates stumble in the final third, the Whites man will have sat on the bench wondering what more he could have done. Leeds United to have one concern as Noah Okafor rightfully gets World Cup call-up Has previous Okafor situation impacted Switzerland fortunes? Due to an incident stretching back to Euro 2024, Okafor has not featured for the Nati since then. Publicly criticising the national team setup's lack of communication, he would go directly to director Pierluigi Tami to question his lack of playing time at the tournament. As a result, he would not meet up with his compatriots again until the recent March break, when he would apologise to his teammates. Recovering from injury issues at the time, he would not feature, but now that he is back fully fit, he may be questioning whether the incident of two years ago is impacting his chances under Yakin moving forward. Switzerland tried everything against Qatar, except using one of their in-form players - a man described as the "perfect fit" by Leeds boss Daniel Farke . However, it seems that this statement is not echoed in the international camp.

MOT View: Leeds may have told exit-linked player their decision as exit noise goes quiet

Wilfried Gnonto has been tipped for a Leeds United exit this summer, though the noise around a move to Freiburg has gone quiet. The Italian had limited game time at Elland Road this season just gone, and became surplus to Daniel Farke 's requirements. He then posted a telling message on social media after the final home game of the season after the win over Brighton. However, nothing has been confirmed that the Whites want to sell Gnonto, only that they are open to him leaving. Freiburg have been credited with interest in the winger, as the Bundesliga club could look to strike a loan-to-buy agreement, or may mush for a permanent move. However, speculation linking Gnonto to Freiburg has died down in recent weeks, which leaves Leeds fans wondering if he will leave or not. Leeds may have still told Wilfried Gnonto to find new club Though Gnonto may not end up in Germany with Freiburg, he still looks destined to leave. Paraag Marathe has admitted that the Whites will need to operate strategically in the summer market, and that means they'll have to raise funds somehow. Gnonto has been a benchwarmer for almost the whole season, but has made little impact when being introduced in games. He still holds a high market value due to his potential and age, one which Leeds will most likely look to cash in on. It would be no surprise if Farke and the club have told the 22-year-old to find new employers this summer, even if a move to Freiburg doesn't materialise. Wilfried Gnonto to Freiburg: Leeds United have no-brainer decision as talks for exit commence Leeds must chase permanent Gnonto exit It would be understandable to see sides try to sign Gnonto on loan or even a loan-to-buy. However, the Whites need immediate cash, and given they only signed him for around £5million, the 49ers are due a profitable sale. It will help for a positive on the books at Elland Road too, with this summer seeing a switch to the new SCR system. Leeds could easily get at least £10m for Gnonto, though his possible exit will most likely remain controversial among fans.

View: Three places departing Leeds star could end up after Elland Road farewell

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier will leave Elland Road at the end of his contract, but it is not yet clear where he will end up next. The Whites announced the Frenchman's exit as part of their retained list, confirming that he will not be handed a fresh deal. That was widely expected as he has a stunning fall from grace in the last couple of years. He was the number one for the most of the Championship promotion-winning campaign, making 39 appearances in the league, but lost his place after a series of howlers. He never regained it back, as Daniel Farke could not trust him to keep the Peacocks in the top flight. After Meslier sent an emotional farewell to the Elland Road side, MOT Leeds News picks three clubs where he may end up. Birmingham City could sign Leeds ace Illan Meslier Meslier could find his way back to the second tier with Birmingham City. The St Andrew's side are looking to get promoted to the Premier League and the 26-year-old has already achieved that twice with the LS11 side, so his experience would be vital. Local Blues journalists Alex Dicken and Brian Dick raised the possibility when speaking on the Keep Right On podcast in May. Dicken said: "He's a really good Championship goalkeeper. I like him - he was good under [Marcelo] Bielsa; he's a decent goalkeeper in the Championship. Still 26, you could throw a three or four-year contract at him and not be worried about it." Brian replied, saying: "If he's Blues' forever goalkeeper, would you be happy with him?" Dicken responded: "I'd be content with him, yeah." Leeds United: Pascal Struijk and Wilfried Gnonto react to emotional Illan Meslier message Sevilla could have golden opportunity for Meslier signing Spanish reports in May claimed that Sevilla had made the Whites star their top target for the summer window. They said that they had a "golden opportunity" to sign the player who fits their strategic goals. The seven-time Europa League winners believe that the French ace could revive his career with the La Liga side. It was claimed that Andalusia were exploring a free transfer for Meslier, with only salary, signing bonus and contract length to be discussed. Meslier could seek a return to France Meslier started his footballing journey in his home country, with FC Lorient before making the move to England. Reports from France in March suggested that he could "rebound" to a modest Ligue 1 team to kickstart his career again. They stated that his former club had closely monitored the conditions for a comeback last summer. That could be the perfect move for the goalkeeper after a difficult spell in English football, one that could make him fall in love with the game again.

MOT View: Leeds regular's future looks in doubt as transfer lined up for 'superb' star

Joe Rodon could find himself cast aside at Leeds United if they are able to seal a deal to sign Ousmane Diomande . The Wales international was a key component for Leeds last season, and has been ever since he made the move to Elland Road Alongside Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk , the trio have formed a formidable partnership at the heart of defence, which has been key to the Whites' recent success. However, as always with the summer transfer window, opportunities to upgrade will emerge, and with Diomande, that may have already happened. The Ivorian has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while now, with Crystal Palace having also shown an interest. And for Rodon's sake, he will be hoping that a move to Elland Road fails to materialise. Should Leeds look to replace Joe Rodon? Despite it being a successful campaign last term, Leeds still have several areas to improve and several players to upgrade on if they are to do so. And Rodon is one of them. The former Tottenham defender did little wrong last season, but his stats from the campaign showcase just how easily they could improve on him. Rodon ranked among the bottom 20 per cent of centre-backs for his aerial duel win rate, and the bottom 36 per cent for his overall duel win rate. He also averaged just 38 completed passes per game with a 87.4 per cent accuracy, which is inferior to Diomande's average of 68 per game with a 93.1 per cent accuracy. Joe Rodon at risk of being cast aside at Leeds United as stats expose weakness How much would Diomande cost Leeds? If Leeds are to pursue a deal for Diomande, they will have to stump up the cash. And in all likelihood, it would have to be a club-record amount of cash for a player that was recently lauded as "superb" by his manager at Sporting, as per Opta . The 22-year-old still has four years left on his contract, meaning that Sporting are under no pressure to sell one of their main prized assets. As per Transfermarkt, his transfer value comes in around £36million, though any potential move is almost certain to cost in excess of that

'Very clear to me' - Leeds player awaiting transfer plans as assumption already made

Max Wober spent the last campaign away from Leeds United on loan at Werder Bremen, though injuries severely hampered his progress. Leeds have had their fair few forgotten players over the year, but perhaps none as much so as Wober. Despite moving to Elland Road back in 2023, the 28-year-old has made just 28 appearances for Leeds, 19 of which came the last time they were in the Premier League. And to make matters worse, he's only made 59 appearances in total since then despite having had two seperate loan spells. His most recent was with Werder Bremen, but injuries ensured he would make just three senior appearances, and one for their B-team. As of right now, a return to Leeds is pending ahead of pre-season, but for Wober, he's unsure as to what will follow, though he does have a good indication. What has Max Wober said about Leeds future? Unsurprisingly, he shares a similar sentiment regarding his future as the majority of those involved with Leeds. That being that it seems that he has no future at Elland Road. However, the defender expects to be among the squad for pre-season, before awaiting the decision from the club. In an interview with Sky Austria , he said: "I won’t be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore. That’s very clear to me, so yeah, we’ll see how it goes. "I’m assuming that I’ll be back to the preparation normally. "That’s why it will be very important for me to do the preparation again. Then we’ll see how it goes on, what Leeds’ plan is, what’s happening on the transfer market." Leeds United may yet get Max Wober shop window opportunity as World Cup hopes alive Wober's contract situation examined Having signed a four-year deal when he made the move to Leeds in 2023, Wober will enter the final year of his contract later this month All that means is that if the Whites are to part ways with him this summer, they are highly unlikely to receive a fee worth shouting home about. Leeds paid £12million to sign the Austrian from Salzburg, with them able to count themselves lucky if they recoup even 10 per cent of that fee that this summer. What once looked like it would be a solid piece of business, has since turned into a firepit for money.

MOT View: World Cup development poses threat to ideal Leeds scenario this summer

Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson failed to make it off the bench for the USMNT in their World Cup win over Paraguay. The former Salzburg star has always split opinions at Elland Road, and yet he has always remained in Daniel Farke 's plans. Aaronson made 37 appearances in the Premier League last campaign, having started 30 of those games. With nine goal involvements, his contributions were invaluable as the Whites secured safety with relative ease, albeit with his most recent one coming back in April. Leeds will be looking to make the most of the summer transfer window, and if the chance emerges, they are unlikely to hesistate when it comes to replacing him. However, their chances of doing so have already been reduced by his absence at the World Cup in the early hours of Saturday morning. What is the ideal scenario for Leeds? Even if Aaronson had years left on his deal, he should still be one of the main players they look to upgrade on this summer. And that is only amplified by the fact that he has just one year left on his contract come the end of June. This summer is almost certain to be their last chance of cashing in on him, and after a relatively fruitful campaign, his value will be somewhat high. However, the hope will have been that he could impress at the World Cup and increase that value further, though his absence from the win against Paraguay makes that seem unlikely. There are several more games in which he can have the desired impact, but the competition has certainly not gone to plan after the first encounter from Leeds' perspective. Brenden Aaronson embarrassed after new developments away from Leeds United Which other Leeds stars are due to compete at the World Cup? In total, the Whites will have four players at the World Cup this summer, though only Aaronson has had the chance to appear. Noah Okafor will be a part of the Switzerland squad when they take on Qatar on Saturday night, with Ao Tanaka likely to feature for Japan when they face the Netherlands on Sunday night. Gabriel Gudmundsson 's Sweden due to face Tunisia in the early hours of Monday morning, though illness concerns make it unclear whether he will make the squad.

MOT View: Leeds fans to laugh along with Clint Dempsey after comments on terrible Whites boss

Jesse Marsch will not be remembered fondly at Leeds United . From mistimed comments to the press, disagreements with supporters and a stubbornness that saw results incredibly hard to come by, the American endured a torrid time at Elland Road. The fact of the matter is that he was on a hiding to nothing given the circumstances. There are not many - if any - managers out there capable of building on what Marcelo Bielsa had at Leeds, leaving Marsch in an incredibly difficult position. However, for the aforementioned reasons, and given the eventual relegation kick-started under his guidance, Whites fans will never look back on his time at the helm with any fondness. And after Clint Dempsey's comments on him, fans in West Yorkshire may just be letting out a chuckle. Clint Dempsey holds nothing back in Jesse Marsch criticism Following his Leeds departure in 2023, Marsch would take over as boss of the Canadian national team - a somewhat bizarre choice given his American nationality and his public comments about coaching the USA. Guiding the Canadians to the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America, and seeing them into the home World Cup, he has been a net positive in charge. Former US international Dempsey, though, remains far from convinced, particularly regarding Marsch's recent comments that he had to convince players to sing the national anthem while working as an assistant to Bob Bradley. "He really said that? I really can't take that guy too seriously," said the former forward on Fox Soccer, echoing what many Leeds fans said week in and week out just three years ago. “I can’t take that guy too seriously." @clint_dempsey responds to Jesse Marsch's recent comments about his time with the USMNT pic.twitter.com/x4JvlDHRkh — FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 12, 2026 "It was an honour for me, growing up and representing my country," added Dempsey. "When the national anthem started, I wasn't usually one who would sing. I would put my hand on my heart and pray to the good man upstairs. "I am someone who has bled for this country, I have broke my nose playing for this country and I have came back from two heart procedures and played for this country. "So, I am not going to take advice from someone who switched to the other side and is singing another countries national anthem. Stay in your own lane and worry about your own team." Leeds United: Jesse Marsch says Ted Lasso comparisons didn't help - nor did his poor tactics Marsch stood no chance at Leeds As mentioned, whoever took over from Bielsa in 2022 had a huge task on their hands. This was made even more difficult when Marsch's character is considered - the pair simply could not be more different. The American is combustible, with a reputation of talking himself into controversy with how easily he bites and reacts to comments - unaided by his lack of experience in the English game. At that time, the Whites needed another calm and inspirational figure, and he most certainly wasn't that. Even since then, he has failed to fully take his share of the blame, which has naturally angered fans. However, he was never the right fit in the first place, and if anything, his appointment was indicative of the mismanagement that brought Leeds' most recent Premier League stint to a premature end.

MOT View: Leeds know what to do after what striker target did at World Cup

Leeds United had been linked with a move to sign Ermedin Demirovic in an attempt to bolster their attack. Signing a goalkeeper, or two depending on the future of Karl Darlow , will be a priority for Leeds this summer, though it won't be the only one. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor carried their attack in the Premier League last season, and they will need more options to reduce the pressure on them next campaign. There's a strong possibility that the Whites will look to add a new striker and a new winger to their squad, though the former will likely be higher up the list of importance. Demirovic was linked with a move to Elland Road to satisfy those needs However, after what happened in Bosnia's World Cup opener, it's clear what Leeds must do this summer. How did Ermedin Demirovic fare vs Canada? Unfortunately for Leeds, not very well at all. The 30-year-old failed to have the desired impact in the final third for his country, but what stood out the most was his lack of quality in transition. Demirovic won just four of his 11 ground duels against Canada, while also having committed four fouls. Given the fact that he is the type of striker whose main draw is to hold the ball up, those stats are concerning. He won seven of his 11 aerial duels, but with a zero per cent dribble success rate and a 71 per cent pass accuracy, his lack of quality on the ball was clear to see. Leeds United questions needed as Ermedin Demirovic update emerges What type of striker do Leeds need? Calvert-Lewin remains likely to be the number one for the Whites next season, but they need another option to offer something different. Leeds lack the number nine capable of getting in behind a defence, which has to be the type of profile they look at this summer. Lois Openda has been linked, and whule that deal may prove to be too expensive, and too much of a risk, that is the type of player that they should be looking to bring to Elland Road in the coming months.

Gnonto sends 1-word message as Leeds teammate posts emotional farewell

Leeds United stars Pascal Struijk and Wilfried Gnonto are among the players to have reacted to Illan Meslier 's emotional goodbye message. The Frenchman's departure was confirmed earlier this week when the Whites revealed their retained list. The 26-year-old leaves Elland Road on a free transfer having suffered a stunning fall from grace in recent years. He went from being the starting goalkeeper in the Championship to not playing a single minute in the 2025-26 season. His departure was expected, but it is still an emotional one, consider he has been at the LS11 club since 2019. It is the end of an era, and the reaction for teammates past and present shows how much he will be missed. What did Illan Meslier say about Leeds United exit? Meslier took to social media on Friday to share his feelings on the departure with an emotional message. He said: "I just wanted to take a moment to send this farewell message to every single Leeds United fan. "When I arrived at this club in 2019 as a 19-year-old kid, I had no idea what was ahead of me. What I found was a club like no other, a fanbase with a passion that is truly unmatched, and a place that has shaped me into the goalkeeper and the man I am today. "I would like to thank all the coaching staff, medical staff and players who have been part of this journey. And also the people at the stadium and the training ground who have been amazing with me from day one to the last day. View this post on Instagram "After seven years, the time has come to take on a new challenge and step into a new chapter of my career. Leeds will never leave me. This city, this club, this shirt ; it’s part of who I am now and always will be. "Thank you for everything. Marching On Together, always." Struijk led the tributes, commenting on the post with: "It was a pleasure." Gnonto kept it simple with his response, saying: "Legend" Former Leeds star Stuart Dallas, who played 82 times with Meslier, said: "Absolute pleasure. Amazing times together. Best wishes for whatever is next." The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin , Anton Stach , Harry Gray and Crysencio Summerville all liked the message from the departing star. Patrick Bamford reacts as Leeds United confirm Illan Meslier exit Why Meslier's legacy cannot be questioned Meslier made 215 appearances for the Whites in all competitions and he played a key part in a couple of milestones. He helped them to get promoted in the 2019-20 season, and played a key part as Marcelo Bielsa' side finished ninth upon their return to the top-flight. He would do the same in the 2024-25 season, making 39 league appearances in that campaign before being dropped for Karl Darlow . While he has not played recently, he was probably still a big figure in the dressing room, and his previous contributions will not be forgotten. He had a big role in the Whites' history, and many supporters will wish him the best for his future endeavours. The amount of message from teammates, whether current or past shows exactly how important he was over the years, and why the past year and a bit can't be held against him, in terms of his Peacocks legacy. No matter what, he will go down in the history books for the Thorp Arch side.

National team share update on Leeds player 'placed in isolation' on World Cup duty

Gabriel Gudmundsson has been in a race against time to be ready for the World Cup after the Leeds United full-back was struck down by illness. Sweden national team press officer Petra Thoren announced on Tuesday that Gudmundsson was absent from that day's training. The 27-year-old was said to have "mild symptoms", but it was enough to keep him away from the rest of the group. Gudmundsson also missed the next couple of training sessions, placing his participation against Tunisia in the early hours of Monday in jeopardy. That would be a cruel blow for a player who also missed the final stages of Leeds' campaign through injury. However, a more positive update has now been shared on the former Lille ace. Gabriel Gudmundsson gets green light to leave isolation Gudmundsson effectively sacrificed Leeds' closing games of the season in order to recover from a niggling injury. With the Whites already assured of safety, that decision made total sense from a personal perspective. Picking up an illness of some sort after jetting off to Dallas clearly was not on Gudmundsson's bingo card, but these things happen. The good news for Gudmundsson, though, is that he was given the all clear to return to training on Friday. Sweden's official X account posted an image of the Leeds fan favourite in training, along with the caption: "Gabriel Gudmundsson is back in training. ℹ️ Gabriel Gudmundsson est aujourd’hui de retour à l’entraînement avec la sélection suédoise ! Leeds United star Gabriel Gudmundsson faces cruel blow as Sweden absence explained How are Leeds' other World Cup players shaping up? There was disappointment for Brenden Aaronson of sorts in the early hours of Saturday morning as he did not feature in the United States' opening game. The co-hosts eased to a 4-1 win over Paraguay in Los Angeles, but Aaronson remained on the substitutes' bench. Still, Aaronson will of course be happy that his side got off to a flying start, and he will no doubt play a part as the tournament goes on. Ao Tanaka is gearing up for Japan's opening game against the Netherlands on Sunday evening, meanwhile, and Noah Okafor is in line to feature for Switzerland against Qatar on Saturday night. Daniel Farke will have a close eye on the quartet and will be pleased in the knowledge that Gudmundsson is fully over his recent illness.

View: Ex-Leeds fave must rue contract snub after sentimental 2025 exit

Junior Firpo rejected the opportunity to stay with Leeds United last summer, but he must now be pondering whether that was the right decision. The 29-year-old left-back joined Leeds in the summer of 2021 from Barcelona , and went on to make 119 appearances for the Whites. He played a vital role in Leeds' promotion to the Premier League in 2024-25, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists from 32 Championship appearances. But with his contract expiring at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign, Leeds did reportedly put fresh terms on the table for Firpo to stay at Elland Road. Instead, the Dominican Republic international opted to turn down a new deal in West Yorkshire, and signed for Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis. His debut 2025-26 season for the Seville-based side didn't go to plan, however. How did Junior Firpo fare for Real Betis in 2025-26? For Real Betis, 2025-26 was a brilliant year for the football club, as they finished fifth in the Spanish top flight. As such, Manuel Pellegrini's men have qualified for the Champions League for 2026-27. Betis was the team that Firpo developed through as a youngster and took his first steps in the senior game with, and so him returning there did hold significant sentimental value to him. But, he would only make 16 appearances in all competitions for them last season, with 12 of those coming in La Liga, providing a mere two assists and zero goals on the year. Firpo did suffer numerous hamstring problems last season which helped to limit his impact, but even when he was on the pitch, his performances and weren't anything to write home about. As per FotMob , he completed just 35 successful passes, played 0.22 accurate long balls and delivered 0.54 accurate crosses per 90 in La Liga last year. Firpo also registered an average of 0.43 successful dribbles, made 2.92 recoveries, created 0.87 chances and committed 1.19 fouls per game. Betis failed to keep a single clean sheet whilst he was on the pitch, and so his role in Pellegrini's squad looks uncertain moving forward. Junior Firpo messages Joel Piroe after season first at Leeds United vs Norwich Daniel Farke 's system would've been made for Firpo During his final two years at Leeds, Firpo established himself as one of, if not the best, attacking full-backs in the Championship. Indeed, he provided 18 assists across the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons respectively. Those returns were made even more impressive when you consider that Daniel Farke almost exclusively played with a 4-2-3-1 formation during his first two years at Elland Road. Now though, Farke regularly deploys a back three with wing-backs, in a system that would've played to Firpo's attacking strengths even more. Gabriel Gudmundsson 's presence would've made it difficult for him to keep his starring role, but he may well have still played a bigger part for Leeds last season than he did with Betis.

MOT View: Leeds now know what it'll take to sign 'remarkable' ace from English club

Leeds United could still complete the signing of Jhon Solis this summer amid a development involving Birmingham City . The Colombia international has previously emerged as a surprise target at Elland Road after a spell at Birmingham. He joined the Championship outfit in January and featured across the second half of the season. The 21-year-old's future was up in the air moving into the summer ahead of a return to Girona, where he had once been described as a "remarkable player" by The Scouting App . With the Spanish side's relegation from LaLiga, that could have thrown a spanner into the works. Leeds could still have the opportunity to sign Solis, all while Birmingham City look to seal a deal. Jhon Solis set for £6m summer transfer The defensive midfielder completed 17 second tier appearances after his January switch. That sparked mixed reviews from the St Andrew's crowd, especially after a frustrating campaign following promotion from League One It appears that Chris Davies has seen enough and has prompted a permanent deal ahead of the summer window. Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Birmingham have announced their £6million buy option for Solis. The opportunity to sign him for that fee was included in his loan agreement and was set to expire next week. Blues are said to believe in the player, but could they be tempted if a new offer were to come in? Jhon Solis to Leeds United: Sister shares transfer hint ahead of £6.9m summer deal Leeds United could table Solis offer after interest The midfielder may have been featuring in the second tier, but has been linked with a Premier League switch. Leeds and Chelsea have both reportedly shown interest in his signature moving into the summer. The Whites could still look to seal a deal for the Colombian as the Blues could be prompted to accept an offer if it sealed them an instant profit. An offer in and around £10m would seal a decent fee for the B9 outfit within the same window as they signed him. Daniel Farke's side could make an attempt to rock the boat at St Andrews and see if they could push a deal over the line. It would all hinge on City and whether they would be willing to sell Solis so soon after reported belief in Solis.

Leeds make contract 'promise' to sign Man United gem - report

Leeds United have pushed the boat out to land Silva Mexes from Manchester United . The Whites signed Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher from the Red Devils in February, and it appears that the 16-year-old sensation will make the same move. The Talent Hunter, who are known for their insights in academy football, broke the news that the Elland Road side were set to sign Mexes on 9 June. He will slot into the Under-18 side at Thorp Arch, with opportunities to step up to Under-21 level. Mexes is understood to have signed on a scholarship initially, however the Peacocks have plans in place to keep him around. They have apparently already made a new promise about his future in LS11 to secure his talent. What have Leeds promised to Silva Mexes? Leeds are making a push to sign some of the most promising young talents in the country, and that is set to continue with the Old Trafford gem. A report from the Manchester Evening News on 11 June confirms that Mexes is set to move to the Yorkshire club. It states that there has been suggestions that the Peacocks have made a "promise" to give him a professional contract when he turns 17. Silva Mexes has football's toughest label to escape as Man United to Leeds move nears Why Leeds need to be careful with Mexes signing Leeds need to keep trying to add the best youngsters that they can get, as the more that they have, the more chance one becomes a star. They have signed the likes of Ibrovic-Fletcher, Jayden Lienou and Leonard Ngenge recently, proving their commitment to improving the academy. The 49ers Enterprises could save a lot of money if they can bring several talents into the first-team, rather than having to look to the transfer market. Daniel Farke now needs to make sure that Mexes and other youngsters have chances to make it into the senior set-up, rather than not getting the opportunities to succeed. Otherwise, what is the point in the Whites making these types of signings, just to move them on a couple of years later, there is no point if they do not see the pathway. The fact that they have been willing to join, though, suggests that one has been outlined to them, it is just whether Leeds can stick to it or not.

View: Leeds dragged into Rohl exit saga at Rangers as new claim made

Leeds United have been dragged into the ongoing Danny Rohl saga at Rangers. Red Bull Salzburg want to bring the Ibrox boss to Austria, and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is supposedly pushing the move. The Whites and the Govan side are both owned by the 49ers Enterprises group, but the running of the clubs are kept separate. Paraag Marathe, the LS11 outfit's chairman stepped down from his involvement with the Glasgow-based outfit, due to UEFA regulations. The sides are still linked, though, and there have been reports that transfer business could happen between them. The Elland Road team have now been mentioned in relation to the Die Roten Bullen's attempts to hire Rohl. What has been said about Leeds and Danny Rohl? Leeds' connections to the Red Bull group, who have a minority ownership stake, may have played a factor in the approach for Rohl, as a new claim was made in Scotland. Daily Record reporter Scott McDermott believes that there is no way that the Gers did not know about the interest before it broke, due to those links. He said: "I don’t believe for a minute that Red Bull Salzburg have made this interest know in the last 48 hours. "This is an organisation that have close links to Leeds United, and close links to Rangers via 49ers Enterprises. "They must have known there was interest there, and must have known he was on a list of potential managerial candidates." Paraag Marathe shares new Leeds United transfer update after Ethan Ampadu contract announcement Why Leeds will be thankful amid Red Bull connection Leeds will be thankful that there is no interest in Farke , as his contract situation is very perilous at the moment. He has just one year left on the deal that he signed when he joined the club in 2023. Marathe has assured supporters that the ownership wants to tie the manager down beyond the end of next season, but so far, there has been no agreement between the sides. Until that deal is signed, sealed and delivered, the Peacocks will be vulnerable to their own boss being targeted. Luckily, the Red Bull club have chosen to go down the Rangers route, than come in for Farke, but they need to sort it out as soon as possible, so other clubs can't take advantage. They have probably gone for Farke's fellow German since he already had tied with the group, after working for them for eight years, between 2010 and 2018. That probably explains why they have not made a move for Farke, despite his ability and the connection that they have with the Whites.

View: Leeds star impossible not to love, pre-World Cup gesture is wonderful

Leeds United midfielder Ao Tanaka has showed once again why he is impossible not to love while away on Japan duty. Tanaka did not start as often as he would have liked in the Premier League last season, doing so just 14 times. However, the 27-year-old will play a key part in Japan's World Cup campaign, which begins against the Netherlands on Sunday. Japan are considered one of the dark horses to make it deep in the competition, with Tanaka one of a number of well-known names. Tanaka has earned 38 caps for his national side and has scored eight times. Ahead of his World Cup campaign getting under way, he has showed off some interesting clobber. Ao Tanaka to wear specially designed shinpads at World Cup Tanaka has been a fan favourite pretty much from the moment he arrived at Elland Road in August 2024. The midfielder played a massive part in Leeds' return to the Premier League and was also used regularly last season, albeit often as a substitute. Tanaka is a hugely popular figure in the dressing room and you can see from the outside he is clearly very grounded. And the former Fortuna Dusseldorf ace has now shown another wonderful gesture of goodwill for the World Cup. As reported by The Japan News , Tanaka will wear specially designed shinpads that have been decorated by Wajima lacquer craftsmen. This is considered a traditional craft back home and Tanaka wants to show his support to the struggling industry. The report outlines how the piece of kit is made in Wajima, which was heavily damaged in an earthquake two years ago. “I want to give people courage,” Tanaka said in reference to aiding the city back home. The shinpads are predominantly black, with a golden mythical three-legged crow - said to guide people in the right direction - in the centre. A small gesture it may be, but Tanaka is doing what he can to help those in Japan. Leeds United: Ao Tanaka gives Japan World Cup headache after performance vs Iceland Tanaka may be run into the ground after injury update Tanaka was always going to play an important role for Japan in the United States, Canada and Mexico, but perhaps even more so now. Wataru Endo was ruled out on the eve of the tournament and then announced his retirement from international football. With the Liverpool midfielder out, Tanaka will now be needed more than ever. From a selfish perspective, Daniel Farke will simply be hoping Tanaka returns injury free and ready to go for next season.

MOT View: Farke right to chase Leeds deal for defender after World Cup showing overnight

Daniel Farke target Ladislav Krejci put in a talismanic performance for his country once again in a sure-fire sign Leeds United are onto a winner. Czechia would fall to an eventual 2-1 defeat to South Korea in their opening World Cup match in the early hours of Friday morning, but the Wolves defender remained key. After almost singlehandedly dragging his nation to the finals, Krejci netted the first Czech goal at a World Cup since 2006 - firing home with a bullet header from a Vladimir Coufal cross. Despite his loan switch to Wolves becoming permanent, Leeds' interest has been mentioned since the final days of the season. Naturally, caution from fans arises when looking at players on a relegated side. However, Farke has been proven right on this one, with the Czech captain proving more than capable on the biggest stage. Daniel Farke has previously demanded Ladislav Krejci push Joining on loan from Girona last summer, Krejci would make his Wolves debut against the Whites back in September. Starting in midfield that day, he would open the scoring in the early stages, before Farke's side picked up a 3-1 win at Molineux. In what ended up being a season of relatively few positives for the Old Gold, Krejci was one of them, having been the only new signing to impress on a consistent basis in the Black Country. As a result, interest in the £26million man is only natural, with his international performances only driving this up. Set piece mastery Czechia hold off the Korea Republic pressure and strike first after a long throw-in! pic.twitter.com/rAXmT9y447 — ITV Football (@itvfootball) June 12, 2026 At the top of the month, it was reported that Leeds are planning to ramp up their interest in the versatile defender. With this in mind, Farke is said to be the one driving this, with the Whites boss remaining impressed despite Wolves' relegation to the Championship. The Black Country club triggered an option to buy clause worth £26m this season, after an appearance figure was met. The report states that Leeds are unnerved by the fee, and could continue to push for his signature this summer. Daniel Farke spearheads Ladislav Krejci transfer as Leeds United react to price already Leeds will hope for certain outcome with Krejci After somewhat going under the radar as a result of the dire circumstances at Molineux, Krejci's World Cup performances could drive up interest across England. With this in mind, Leeds could well be hoping for a group-stage exit, meaning that there are just three possible matches to fully showcase himself to the world. Given Farke's current 3-5-2 formation, the signing of the Czech skipper would be an absolute no-brainer. Comfortable on the ball, Krejci can play in any role across a back three, while he is equally as capable in a four. Most importantly, he adds another body to be used in midfield when called upon - somewhere he has often been used since his Wolves move. In a dismal side, he stood out like a sore thumb, while his leadership and importance to his country speaks for itself. If Leeds and Farke are to add bodies this summer, Krejci should be first on that list, with an early World Cup exit potentially favourable, giving the Whites chance to get a deal over the line sooner rather than later.

MOT View: Daniel Farke must do right by standout Leeds United talent this summer

Rhys Chadwick is coming towards the end of his Leeds United contract, meaning Daniel Farke has a big call to make this summer. The 19-year-old is a boyhood Leeds supporter, and has been in the Whites' youth system for a while. He turned professional in the summer of 2024, and went on to mark the 2024-25 campaign with a stellar term. Chadwick scored 12 goals and provided a further 12 assists in 31 total appearances for Leeds' Under-21 side that year, clearly marking him out as one of the club's top talents. A versatile attacking midfielder, Chadwick signed a new contract with Leeds in January of this year. Crucially, however, that deal only runs until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, and so his long-term Elland Road future remains far from certain. Leeds should loan out Rhys Chadwick Leeds' academy system is one of the most productive and well-respected in English football. The Thorp Arch production line of quality young talent is the envy of many clubs, but with the Whites now a Premier League force, opportunities may be growing slimmer for their youngsters. Indeed, with more league success comes more money and pressure to perform, and with that often comes significant transfer investment into senior stars. Time may now be running out for Chadwick to secure a first-team future at Elland Road, and so either way, Farke and Leeds chiefs need to make a call on him this summer. Either they bring him into the first-team fold, giving him extended minutes in pre-season and a place in their matchday squads moving forward if he impresses. Or, what they probably should do and would perhaps give Chadwick the best chance to impress next season, is to loan him out. The attacker has shown that he's ready to evolve from academy football, and with no senior experience under his belt, that needs to change soon if he's going to make it at Leeds. Surely then, spending the 2026-27 season in the Championship or with a top League One side would do him the world of good, whilst also making Leeds' upcoming contract decision a far more informed one. Rhys Chadwick has Daniel Farke on red alert after what he did for Leeds United Under-21s How well did Chadwick play in 2025-26? Last season once again saw Chadwick confined to Under-21s football with Leeds, playing 18 times in Premier League 2. Scott Gardner's side finished 25th of 29 in that division last term, but Chadwick was still able to show why he's one of the top talents in the Whites' youth system right now. He scored five times and provided four assists from those 18 PL2 games, with his 46 fouls won ranking him in the top 1.3 percentile of attacking midfielders in that league last season, as per FotMob . View this post on Instagram Meanwhile, Chadwick also won 91 duels, created 29 chances, delivered 21 successful crosses and made 63 defensive contributions. The teenager was also named on Leeds' bench for the final three Premier League games of 2025-26 against Tottenham , Brighton and West Ham respectively, but didn't see his number called.

MOT View: Leeds may keep close eye on one attacker in World Cup, final call soon

Leeds United will most likely be keeping an eye on several targets at this year's World Cup, as Mohamed Amoura could be one of them. The Whites have an interesting summer ahead, with Paraag Marathe admitting that it will be planned with strategic intent. The 49ers understand that they cannot spend willy-nilly this summer, as it may take another two seasons until they can operate how they wish in the market, due to financial issues. Amoura was linked with Leeds at the end of the winter window, but it was reported that they would assess a possible move this summer. The VfL Wolfsburg star will be at the World Cup with Algeria this summer, and will put in performances on the highest stage of them all. Leeds will be keen to see how Amoura performs when the lights shine brightest, as a summer transfer decision, whether to pursue a deal at all or not, is expected. Leeds may act on Mohamed Amoura interest after World Cup Leeds were unable to wrap up a deal for Amoura in the winter window, but their interest was genuine. It was then suggested that the Whites would turn their attention to the Algerian international once more this summer, as any approach will most likely come once he returns to Germany after the World Cup. The versatile striker is said to be valued at around £26.1million by Wolfsburg, who could be open to his sale. If Amoura does have a good World Cup campaign, then Leeds will , of course, be more attracted by the prospect of signing him However, that could drive his price tag up even further. Mohamed Amoura: 49ers to get £8.7m discount as Leeds' transfer interest remains for next window Who does Amoura play against at the World Cup There is a good chance that Amoura plays just the three games at this year's World Cup, but he is seen as an important starting player for Algeria. His first test will come against none other than the defending champions in Lionel Messi's Argentina, but his country can take confidence in knowing Saudi Arabia beat them in the first game of the 2022 World Cup. He also plays Jordan and Austria, as the latter will most likely be their direct rival to get out of the group, with Argentina expected to go three for three. Either way, it will be an interesting watch for Leeds' transfer chiefs, who will most likely keep a close eye on Amoura.

Leeds eye move for £38m-rated defender, selling club stance revealed - report

Leeds United are said to be keen on a deal for Real Betis defender Natan ahead of the summer transfer window. And that speaks volumes about the Whites' transfer plans, given the number of centre-backs that have already been linked with a move to Elland Road. Wolves' Santiago Bueno and Union Berlin's Danilho Doekhi emerged as the first few targets, but Ousmane Diomande and Natan are the most recent names mooted for a move. The latter finds himself linked off the back of a fruitful campaign in LaLiga, in which he started 32 of the 33 league encounters that he featured in for Real Betis. Given the pressure that was on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score the goals last season, many assumed that the priority would have been to add more support in the final third. However, that does not seem to be the case amid the latest reports connecting Leeds with a move for Natan. How much would Leeds have to pay for Natan? If Leeds are to pursue a move for the 25-year-old, it certainly won't come cheap. A report from ABC Sevilla states that Betis have set a price tag in the region of £38million for the defender this summer. With that said, that will not come as a surprise for many, given the fact that he still has four years left on his current contract. It's claimed that Betis do not want to sell this summer, though there is an acceptance that he is their most valuable asset, which may change their stance if interest grows. Leeds United squad depth assessed in detail as Daniel Farke prepares for long-term success Who would Natan replace? If Natan were to make the move to Elland Road, which at this stage still seems fairly unlikely, it's clear that he would replace Pascal Struijk The Brazillian is a left-sided defender, and to get the best out of him, he would have to be utilised there. Struijk showed signs of weakness in the Premier League last season, despite having a generally solid campaign overall. However, out of the three current centre-backs, he is by far the most easily replaced.

MOT View: 'Truly bizarre' Wolves developments could hand Leeds immediate double transfer boost

Rob Edwards has been sacked as Wolves manager, just days after appearing in a transfer announcement for the club. Leeds have Wolves' woes partly to thank for their ability to stay in the Premier League last season, given that it was clear they were going to occupy one of the relegation spots very early into the campaign. They moved to hire Edwards towards the latter stages of the campaign, mainly with a view to him getting them back into the Premier League at the first time of asking. After concluding moves for Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez , Edwards was a big part of the transfer announcements that followed. And yet it was confirmed on Thursday morning that the promotion hopefuls have since moved to sack the former Luton Town manager, who was only made aware of the fact when their next boss was rumoured on social media. Amid all the uncertainty and confusion, Leeds could take advantage, having already been linked with two of their standout stars from last season. Which Wolves stars could Leeds sign? Several centre-backs have been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, with Santiago Bueno one of them. The Uruguayan played his part in a dismal Wolves side, and would provide some much needed depth and quality to Daniel Farke 's backline. Another name linked is Hugo Bueno , an attacking left wing-back, which is where Leeds need to add depth to this summer. Gabriel Gudmundsson had an excellent debut campaign, but the lack of competition beyond him has been exposed in his absence at times throughout the previous campaign. Leeds United eye quadruple Wolves swoop as £35m Andre bid under consideration How could Edwards' sacking help Leeds? Given the fact that Edwards was not even informed of his sacking, it's fair to assume it was a similar case for the players, with Liam Keen, via X , having described the situation as "truly bizarre". Many of them would have either made the move or stated their desire to stay at Molineux, thinking they would be playing for him, when in actual fact, they won't be. That has a very good chance of ruffling some feathers ahead of the summer window, and potentially causing some unhappiness among the squad. Whether that leads to exits remains to be seen, but Leeds need to take advantage if the opportunity comes around.

Leeds want to sign defender, he once made Lionel Messi laugh with request - report

Leeds United are clearly in the market for a new defender this summer. Daniel Farke is currently evaluating his squad ahead of the summer break after securing Premier League survival with ease. Jaka Bijol was the headline defensive addition after promotion, joining Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon in a back three eventually. With doubts over the future of Struijk and Sebastiaan Bornauw already, Leeds are looking to enter the market. That saw links to Ousmane Diomande at Sporting CP, although the Whites would need to break their transfer record to sign him. This is where Mariano Troilo comes into play, with the Parma defender now linked with West Yorkshire. What has been said about Leeds and Mariano Troilo? It has been reported in Argentina that Troilo is highly coveted in the Premier League this summer. 351 Deportes has reported on X that Leeds, as well as Brentford, Fulham and Sunderland are interested in the central defender. Troilo is highly coveted, and Parma have already said that they won't sell their star man for less than £19.8million. UN CENTRAL CODICIADO ⚔️ Mariano Troilo está siendo observado por cuatro clubes de la #PremierLeague y podría emigrar en este mercado. ‍☠️ El ex central de #Belgrano es pretendido por #Fulham , #Sunderland , #LeedsUnited y #Brentford , tal como contó @SantiPonce__26 en… pic.twitter.com/4mxb95HEB3 — 351 Deportes (@351Deportes) June 10, 2026 After only one year of Italian football, it appears that Troilo is set for a rapid rise in Europe. That has coincided with his first senior call-up for Argentina, where he immediately made Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul laugh. Upon meeting Argentina and the world's greatest, he asked Messi not to look in their Instagram chats, due to messages he'd sent as a younger man and fan, via Infobae . Leeds United ready to raise ceiling with headline new transfers as sources speak out Who else could Leeds United sign in defence? Right now, it appears to be a straight shootout between Troilo and Diomande. Danilho Doekhi has been mentioned consistently as a free agent after leaving Union Berlin, but that appears to have gone quiet. Diomande has been coveted for many years now in England, and any deal would cost upwards of £40million for Leeds. Troilo is available for half of that, so it depends where Paraag Marathe and the 49ers want to share their budget out. Midfield appears to be sorted, but a couple of game-changing attacking options are certaintly needed, and don't come cheap. That would make Troilo a smarter addition, and after sharing a dressing room with Messi, he's bound for success sooner rather than later.

MOT View: Elliot Anderson revelation leaves Farke smiling as Leeds’ bargain strategy pays off

Elliot Anderson is of interest to Manchester City this summer, after a fantastic campaign with Nottingham Forest . Joining from Newcastle in 2024, the midfielder has continued to shift through the gears at the City Ground. As a result, the 23-year-old is now an England regular, while the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders are willing to part with upwards of £100million to secure his signature. For Leeds, the mooted fee only serves as a reminder of just how well they've done in the midfield market. Daniel Farke 's side secured Premier League survival with relative ease this term - improving and improving as the season progressed. After some immense recruitment, the Whites look ready to further progress in the top flight, and Farke will be laughing at just how fortunate he was to build his current squad for such an insignificant outlay. Elliot Anderson's fee compared with Leeds midfield As a result of two impressive seasons with the Garibaldi, it is only natural that Anderson has attracted attention. Heading into the summer, Manchester City are interested in the midfielder, having previously seen a proposal rejected by Nottingham Forest. Based on new information from David Ornstein, the proposal is said to have been worth £106m, with add-ons taking the potential deal to around £120m. Manchester City verbal proposal to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson was worth £106m + add-ons, taking it above £120m. #NFFC want British record fee guaranteed, not after bonuses. No fresh talks with #MCFC over 23yo England midfielder @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/DdanEQcqnz — David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) June 10, 2026 Of course, Anderson is supremely talented, and has many years remaining on his career clock. But when Farke's current midfield is considered, he will most certainly consider just how fortunate he is. Out of the midfield three that guided the Whites to safety, Anton Stach 's fee sits at the highest, with the German arriving last summer for around £17m - more than partners Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu combined. Tanaka made the move from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2024 for a fee of around £2.9m, while Ampadu arrived from Chelsea for £7m in 2023. For further context, the West Yorkshire outfit spent just over £100m following their ascent to the Premier League - a number still lower than the mooted fee for Anderson. Of course, the midfielder has earned his praise and whatever potential move comes, but the bargains Leeds have secured in midfield have to be admired in comparison. Is Leeds midfield trio set in stone amid Daniel Farke rebuild? Across the whole pitch, it is hard to imagine that there is any area as set in stone as the Leeds midfield. Joining from Hoffenheim last summer, Stach instantly hit the ground running as one of the Premier League's best, while Ampadu proved a classy controller in the middle of the park. Leeds United squad depth assessed in detail as Daniel Farke prepares for long-term success Japanese international Tanaka would struggle for consistent minutes throughout the campaign, but his emergence towards the end proved exactly why he is such a fan favourite at Elland Road. As the Whites sealed their spot in the division, they looked like a seasoned Premier League outfit - one with much more than avoiding relegation in their sights. And as Farke looks to future proof the side, Leeds simply have to build around what is a well-oiled midfield core. And to make it even more special, all three arrived for a bargain fee in what is a rather unforgiving modern market.

MOT View: Leeds boss Farke now joins Arteta, Emery & Howe in elite PL club

Daniel Farke continues to impress as Leeds United boss, after guiding the club to Premier League survival. Taking over at Elland Road in 2023, the German boss has worked well to galvanise the Whites, who were somewhat in disarray after squandering their top-flight opportunity in 2023. At the second time of asking, Farke would fire Leeds back up in convincing fashion. As a result, he has earned the chance to guide the West Yorkshire club into a second successive Premier League campaign. His side would end the 2025-26 season in 14th, while their survival was sealed with matches to spare. Now, the Leeds boss sits among an impressive list of managers in England's top tier - indicative of the job he has done at Elland Road. Kieran McKenna bombshell sees Daniel Farke join impressive Premier League list As is often the case in modern football, it is rare for time and loyalty to be afforded to a manager. Farke, though, now sits among the division's longest-serving managers, following the recent news surrounding Kieran McKenna. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the Ipswich boss would be departing the club, with the news coming that he is set to take a break from coaching. Kieran McKenna will step down as Ipswich Town Manager after five seasons at the club. Kieran has made the decision to step away from football management and dedicate time to his family, having been at the forefront of one of the most successful eras in the club’s history. — Ipswich Town (@IpswichTown) June 10, 2026 Taking the job at Portman Road in December 2021, McKenna would guide the Tractor Boys to promotion three times, while Ipswich rose from League One to the Premier League in the space of two years. Following the most recent promotion, McKenna would have taken his place as the manager with the third longest reign of any Premier League manager, beaten only by Mikel Arteta (December 2019) and Eddie Howe (November 2021). With the shock departure in mind, Leeds boss Farke now takes his spot as the fourth longest-serving head coach in the division, with only Unai Emery (November 2022) separating him and the mentioned pair of Arteta and Howe. What can Leeds expect as Daniel Farke continues to build? Following the ascent in May 2025, the cautious thoughts surrounding Farke were only natural, given his previous failures in the top flight with Norwich . However, he continued to prove people wrong throughout the season, with his Leeds side continuing to shift through the gears before securing their survival in convincing fashion. Leeds United boss Daniel Farke rightly front and centre in final Elland Road outing Last summer, the Whites recruited well, with players arriving in the prime of their careers, ready to make an instant impact at Elland Road. This time around, there should be a view to adding more youthfhul exuberance to what is a strong and experienced core. If Farke is to strike this balance right, there is no reason as to why further progression cannot be expected under his stewardship. For large parts of the most recent season, the race for Europe remained wide open until the final day, and with some smart recruitment, Leeds will absolutely be aiming for that region of the standings as they settle down in the Premier League.

Outstanding showing vs Sheffield United - September 2020 Meslier put in a brilliant showing against Sheffield United in September 2020, that Whites supporters won't forget anytime soon. He made a series of point-blanks saves including one from John Lundstram , in a Man of the Match display. It was the LS11 side's first clean sheet of the campaign and laid the foundations for a ninth placed finish in the top-flight. 3.) Nine save masterclass vs Liverpool - October 2022 Leeds secured a famous 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield in October 2022, and it would not have been possible without Meslier. He made nine saves against the Reds, and was named the Man of the Match. Crysencio Summerville scored a later winner for the Peacocks, which moved them out of the relegation zone. 2.) Meslier sets clean sheet record - 2020-21 season The Frenchman became the youngest ever goalkeeper to record 11 clean sheets in the 2020-21 Premier League season. That only enhanced the idea that he would be the starting stopper at Elland Road for years to come. It hasn't worked out that way since, but he will likely hold the record for a while yet. 1.) Championship golden glove - 2023-2024 season Meslier shared the Championship golden glove award for the 2023-24 season, with West Brom's Alex Palmer. The stopper kept 18 clean sheets across the league campaign, as the Peacocks missed out on automatic promotion. He did his part but ultimately Farke's side would fail to secure a return to the Premier League despite his individual brilliance.

MOT View: Ex-England int'l could be Farke's secret preference as Leeds may want signing

Aaron Ramsdale could be the goalkeeper Daniel Farke hinted at signing for Leeds United back in January. The Whites will have some big weeks ahead of them with their goalkeeper department, as talks with Karl Darlow over a new deal are ongoing. Manchester United are keen on signing the 35-year-old to act as a second-choice keeper to Senne Lammens, while Tottenham have also expressed their interest. Leeds are also in discussions with Alex Cairns over new terms, as the case of Lucas Perri remains a frustrating one. The Whites are hopeful that Darlow puts pen to paper over a new deal at Elland Road, after surprising everyone last season, emerging as the first-choice keeper. However, even if he doesn't, Leeds look likely to sign a new shot-stopper, as they could rekindle their interest in Ramsdale. Leeds 'expected' to search goalkeeper market this summer Though Darlow was immense last season, he was never thought of as the number one goalkeeper after the Whites signed Perri for over £15million. The Brazilian was poor after arriving in LS11, and therefore Darlow was given a chance, and took it with both hands - literally. Man United have also been impressed with the Englishman's performances, but Leeds remain in talks with him over staying at the club. According to The Mirror on Wednesday, Leeds are "expected" to dip into the goalkeeper market this summer, a key area which could cause a transfer domino effect at Elland Road. Farke hinted that he had some specific in mind as a new goalkeeper signing when speaking in an interview back in January, and that man could be Ramsdale. Leeds United must avoid Aaron Ramsdale trap as Newcastle decision made Southampton want to sell Aaron Ramsdale Southampton are looking to sell several big-name players this summer in order to balance the booms at Saint Mary's. Ramsdale is one player who is on the transfer list, as he returned back to his parent club following a loan spell with Newcastle. The former England international has been linked with a move to Leeds over the past 12 months and beyond, and this summer could be the market when the Whites make their move. Farke has one player in mind, and that could be Ramsdale.

Patrick Bamford reacts as Leeds confirm latest first-team exit at Elland Road

Leeds United have finally confirmed the exit of Illan Meslier . The Whites confirmed the news on Wednesday, but it was a long time coming for the French goalkeeper. Daniel Farke dropped Meslier towards the end of the Championship title-winning year, replacing him with Karl Darlow. Lucas Perri was then signed from Lyon before the Premier League kicked off, with the Brazilian becoming number one. That didn't last long either, with Darlow stepping in again. Both Darlow and Meslier were out of contract this month, but only the Welshman has been offered fresh terms. Leeds United heroes past and present react to Illan Meslier exit Despite not playing a single senior minute last season in all competitions, Meslier will be remembered. After seven seasons and 215 appearances in LS11, Meslier leaves with the best wishes of everyone. That included promotion to the Premier League under both Farke and Marcelo Bielsa, making countless memories. Leeds confirmed Meslier's exit on Instagram, and it led to several reactions from past and present at Elland Road. View this post on Instagram Current players like Joel Piroe , Willy Gnonto and Jayden Bogle liked the post, with others such as Patrick Bamford and Archie Gray doing the same. Barry Douglas also commented, writing: "My big tall French pal ." Illan Meslier has 'sad' end to Leeds United career as lonely image surfaces Headlines from Leeds United retained list The only confirmed exit for now, is Meslier. Sam Byram , Alex Cairns and Darlow were all also out of contract, but it has been revealed that they remain in discussions. That could see all three remain, although Byram and Cairns will know they won't feature and are there for the dressing room and homegrown rules. Darlow, on the other hand, must be tied down. The Welshman isn't a massive name, but he was sensational in the second half of the Premier League season, pulling off countless number of brilliant saves. Should he stay on, it could be enough for Leeds to remain with Darlow and Perri as their main two, with Cairns as third choice again. It's not a critical area that needs strengthening for now, even with Meslier's exit, with other positions surely needing investment first. As for Meslier, he goes with everyone's best wishes.

Leeds' record signings ranked as new summer transfer could top them all

Ousmane Diomande could become Leeds' record signing this summer. The Whites are reportedly trying to finalise a deal for the Ivorian defender, but Sporting's financial demands are complex. The 22-year-old seems to want to move to the Premier League, so the Elland Road side have encouragement. A Bola reports that the Peacocks are willing to go further than they ever have before, and offer the biggest fee in their history. It states that a figure around the £43million mark could be enough to seal his signature, which would eclipse Leeds' previous highest fee with ease. MOT Leeds News ranks the LS11 side's record signings amid the latest update on Diomande. 5.) Rio Ferdinand - £22.4m - West Ham to Leeds United The fee for Rio Ferdinand is the fifth highest figure that the Whites have paid for a player. He helped the Yorkshire club reach the Champions League semi-finals in the 2000-01 season and was named as club captain in August 2001. He was sold due to Leeds' financial issues in 2002, with a controversial move to Manchester United . Leeds United: Every 2025-26 transfer signing graded out of 10 4.) Dan James - £25m - Manchester United to Leeds United Dan James went the opposite way to Ferdinand when he joined the Whites in a £25m deal in August 2021. The Welshman was a pivotal figure as Farke's side secured promotion back to the Premier League in the 2024-25 season. He notched 12 goals and nine assists in 36 Championship matches, but has been unable to replicate that form in the top-flight. 3. Rodrigo - £25.8m - Valencia to Leeds United Rodrigo arrived at Elland Road for a fee of £25.8m in 2020, but never really lived up to expectations consistently enough. He notched 28 goals and five assists in 97 matches for the Peacocks, which is an underwhelming return. He departed when the club were relegated in 2023, joining Qatari side Al-Rayyan SC for an undisclosed fee. 2.) Brenden Aaronson - £28m - Red Bull Salzburg to Leeds United Aaronson signed for the Whites in 2022 in a £28m deal from Red Bull Salzburg. He is still with the Whites, and starred in the Premier League last season, with four goals and five assists. He had to earn his stripes again with the fanbase after leaving to join Union Berlin on loan after they were relegated in 2023. 1.) Georginio Rutter - £34m - Hoffenheim to Leeds United Georginio Rutter is the Yorkshire club's current record signing, with a £34m fee. The Frenchman quickly won the hearts and minds of supporters, scoring eight and assisting 18 goals for the Whites. He departed after relegation and joined Brighton , where he has continued to thrive.

Leeds ready extremes to sign star with £69m release clause, they could break records - report

Leeds United and Ousmane Diomande continue to be linked together ahead of the World Cup. The Ivory Coast defender is preparing for the North American showpiece, with transfer rumours going into overdrive. Leeds are said to be interested in the central defender, who is one of Europe's biggest talents right now. Having shined under several managers in Portugal, including Ruben Amorim, he appears ready for his next move. Paraag Marathe has promised higher quality signings this summer, and Diomande could kickstart that. With doubts around the futures of Pascal Struijk and Sebastiaan Bornauw , a new defender appears high on the shortlist. Leeds ready to break the bank for Ousmane Diomande Not only would this be a high profile signing at Elland Road, it would break the bank, quite literally. A Bola has reported on Wednesday that Leeds are ready to go to extreme lengths to sign Diomande, even breaking their transfer record. It is said that the defender has a £69million release clause, but the Whites will bid below that. Sporting want to keep hold of Diomande for next season, but Leeds are preparing a £43million bid to change their minds. That is including £8.6m in possible add-ons. Leeds United could have difference maker in Ousmane Diomande, Ruben Amorim to thank Who is Leeds' record transfer? That would currently be Georginio Rutter . Leeds signed the French attacker from Hoffenheim for just below £35million, so this would be blown away. Thankfully, Rutter's move to Brighton did represent a profit for Leeds and the 49ers, and that could easily happen with Diomande. Just look at the likes of Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth , who aren't afraid to splash the cash, knowing that if that player has a good season in the Premier League, they will be sold on for immense profit. Over £40million on one player, Diomande in this case, seems extreme given that Leeds are only entering their second year in the Premier League since promotion, but that ambition is needed. If the Whites and 49ers want to kick on, signings like this need to be made, and it appears that they are going all out to make that happen with Diomande. With the World Cup starting this week, it may not be a quick deal, but Leeds are looking to get ahead of the competition. This could be a groundbreaking addition in LS11.

MOT View: Incoming Leeds talent has football's toughest label to escape once move's done

Silva Mexes could join a rare club in making the move from Manchester United across to Leeds United . The two rivals hate each other, explaining why business between the sides is limited. However, Mexes has some leeway given he is just 16 years old and not yet tied down to a professional deal at Carrington. Reports have suggested the young winger is set to make the move to Leeds, ahead of signing pro terms when turning 17 early next year. While Mexes is still very much one for the future, it is an exciting signing from Leeds' perspective. But the Thailand Under-17s international will have to buck a specific trend if he is to go on and become a success. Silva Mexes has a well-known footballing father Mexes is still in the early stages of his career and is likely a couple of years off challenging for senior action. However, his father was thrown in at a similarly young age when starting his own career. That man is Rob Earnshaw, who made a name for himself at Cardiff City and eventually represent a string of clubs. Earnshaw scored over 500 goals in a career spanning close to two decades, eventually ending in 2015. Mexes has been tipped to go onto even bigger things, ideally with Leeds, but football is littered with examples of sons not being able to follow in their father's footsteps. Sure, there are some exceptions, but the general rule is the second or third generation just don't live up to the expectations. That is not saying this will be the case with Mexes - and Earnshaw was not exactly a world-class striker, granted - but there is reason to be cautious. Leeds United to seal 'unbelievable' Silva Mexes transfer with contract plan in place What is Leeds' plan for Mexes? Mexes' move to Leeds is not yet done, but already there appears to be a plan in place. As per The Talent Hunter via X, Leeds intend to use the left-sided attacker in their Under-18s and Under-21s teams next season. Described as an "unbelievable" talent, Mexes will then hope to potentially form part of Daniel Farke's senior squad plans a year later. Playing regularly for the U21s is the natural step into the first team, so it is over to Mexes to show exactly what he is capable of once this move is done.

MOT View: Leeds could pull off financial masterclass as LaLiga giants open to player exit

Leeds United have the opportunity to sign Barcelona sensation Roony Bardghji this summer. The Whites are after reinforcements in the forward areas, with a left-footed attacker a key wish of Daniel Farke's. Leeds currently have Brenden Aaronson, Anton Stach, Noah Okafor, Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto who can all play behind the striker, but there is a need for more quality in that area. The Whites are said to hold the strongest interest in Bardghji out of multiple Premier League clubs, with Barcelona open to his exit just one year after signing him. The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in Europe, but it just hasn't happened for him at Nou Camp this season. Leeds would not register their interest in a player that they can't afford, and so developments could see the 49ers pull off a financial masterclass if they play their cards right. Loan-to-buy option on cards for Leeds with Roony Bardghji It's believed that Barcelona would be open to either a sale of Bardghji or to loan the right-winger out. The La Liga giants only paid £1.7million to get him from FC Copenhagen in 2025, tying him down to a four-year contract at the Nou Camp. Leeds would most likely have to pay a lot more than this fee due to his increased salary at the Catalan club and lengthy contract. However, Bardghji is said to only be open to leaving Barca on loan, with aspirations to one day be a first-team starter. Due to Lamine Yamal's continued rise to superstardom, the chances of Bardghji making it at Barca are slim, which opens up a deal for Leeds. There could be an option for the Whites to pursue his signature on a loan-to-buy basis, a condition that may suit all parties, depending on the details of the clause. Leeds United in 'strongest' position for Roony Bardghji deal, Barcelona open to sale Bardghji is what Daniel Farke needs; here's why Leeds also have Harvey Elliott on their transfer list, another forward which fits the criteria of what Farke is looking for. However, the Liverpool star could be more costly than Bardghji, and years of experience in the Premier League prove the former may have a limited ceiling. Bardghji excelled while at Copenhagen, standing out in the Champions League against Manchester United during the 2023-24 campaign. Injuries have been a concern, but he did manage to get six goal involvements for Barca in 28 appearances this season, most of which came from the bench. Leeds will be trying to make the smartest moves this summer, and it feels like this could be one that suits Paraag Marathe and Co., all things considered.

Leeds star absent from training ahead of country's WC opener, reason explained - report

Leeds United full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson faces a race against time to be ready for Sweden's World Cup opener. Gudmundsson missed Leeds' final four matches of the 2025-26 campaign through injury. The 27-year-old recovered from that minor issue well in advance of the World Cup and played an hour of Sweden's 2-2 draw with Greece last week. However, it has now been confirmed he is struggling with illness just five days out from the World Cup starting. It could be a potentially cruel blow for the Leeds fan favourite, with Sweden's press officer providing an update on Tuesday. Gabriel Gudmundsson struck down by illness Gudmundsson's focus towards the end of the season just gone was to be fit in time for the World Cup. With Leeds assured of safety with a few games to go, that was a smart choice to make. Gudmundsson was set to start Sweden's World Cup opener against Tunisia in the early hours of Monday morning. However, as confirmed by Sweden's media officer Petra Thoren, as per the Sweden Herald , illness kept Gudmundsson away from training on Tuesday. Gudmundsson is said to be showing "mild symptoms", which is encouraging in terms of it not being anything worse. However, with just five days to go until Sweden take on Tunisia, this is clearly not idea for the left-back. Graham Potter will have both fingers crossed that Gudmundsson's symptoms do not get any worse and that he is able to train again soon. Gabriel Gudmundsson speaks out on Leeds United injury as definitive return date set Which other Leeds players are in World Cup action over next week? Gudmundsson is one of four Leeds players who could represent their country on the biggest stage of them all this coming week. Ao Tanaka (Japan), Noah Okafor (Switzerland) and Brenden Aaronson are also gearing up for their nations' opening clashes, against the Netherlands, Qatar and Paraguay respectively. Sustaining an injury or going down with illness this close to a World Cup is always a sickener - quite literally. However, there is still time for Gudmundsson to recover and build up his fitness. It is far from ideal preparation given he's played just 60 minutes of football in a little over six weeks, but you would always back him to put in a proper shift regardless.

View: How EA Sports FC 26 rank Leeds target's best & worst abilities

Ousmane Diomande shines in the physical department according to EA Sports FC 26, with Leeds United now eyeing a summer swoop. The 22-year-old has been shining in Portuguese football for Sporting since signing for them in January 2023. Originally coming through with Danish outfit FC Midtjylland, Diomande has now evolved into one of Europe's brightest young centre-back talents. Indeed, he will be hoping for a memorable summer ahead too, as he's in the Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup in North America. With another impressive 2025-26 campaign under his belt, a number of top clubs across European football have been touted to make moves for him. One of those is Leeds, with Daniel Farke hoping to add some real quality to his squad this summer with the aim of kicking this Whites group on to big success in 2026-27. What are Ousmane Diomande's best abilities in FC 26? There aren't many bigger or more popular video game series in the world than the FC games - formerly known as FIFA. EA Sports FC 26 remains the latest instalment, with millions of players across the globe, and it can serve as a valuable database for fans to research stars linked to their team. So, with Diomande potentially heading to Elland Road this summer, let's take a look at how FC 26 view what his best abilities are that he could bring to West Yorkshire. Taken from the official EA Sports FC website , Diomande's strongest attribute is his jumping, which is rated at 93, with his 90 strength coming in a close second. He also ranks highly for aggression (83), standing tackle (82) and sprint speed (82), with 80 stamina and 78 acceleration. Diomande also ranks well for long passing (73) and short passing (71), which could actually be a little bit low for him based on his 2025-26 numbers for Sporting. Indeed, the Ivorian recorded a 93.1 per cent pass success rate and a 67.1 per cent long ball accuracy in Liga Portugal last season, with few centre-backs in that league bettering those numbers. Leeds United could have difference maker in Ousmane Diomande, Ruben Amorim to thank What are Diomande's worst abilities in FC 26? So, based on his best abilities, it would appear that he'd bring energy, industry and ball-playing ability to Farke's side, but what may he lack? Unsurprisingly, his lowest-rated attribute is his finishing at 20, whilst his 22 long shots, 24 free-kick accuracy and 24 volleys respectively follow closely behind. That's probably fair enough considering he's never scored a goal in Liga Portugal with his feet. Away from his shooting though, Diomande has just 38 vision, 63 agility and 66 balance, perhaps indicating that he's not at his best when it comes to duels. There is evidence to support that as well, as his 48.6 duels won and 57.4 per cent aerial duels won ranked him in the bottom 9.3 and 44.2 percentiles of Liga Portugal centre-backs last season.

View: Young talent Leeds want has proven trait to be Elland Road success

Alfie Osborne is a reported target for Leeds United , with the Hearts starlet enjoying an award-winning 2025-26 season. At 17 years old, Osborne is one of the most exciting young defenders emerging in Scottish football at the moment. The Scotland youth international has already racked up 48 career appearances for Hearts' B team, with 32 of those coming last season. Hearts are understood to be expecting interest in Osborne from Premier League giants Manchester City and Arsenal, with Leeds also being credited with an interest. As such, it's clear that the teenager has a very bright future ahead of him, and if the Whites are to secure his signature this summer, they may well face some major competition. But it's not simply been his performances on the pitch for Hearts that's been an obvious indicator of his talent, rather, it's been where on the field he's been playing. Alfie Osborne's versatility should excite Leeds During his time with Hearts' B team so far, Osborne has played 43 times in the Lowland League, which is the fifth tier of Scottish football. Thirty-five of his appearances at that level have seen him included in the starting XI, with a goal and an assist to boot. When it comes to evaluating a young players' talent, one tell-tale sign that they've got star potential is whether or not they can play in numerous positions. Not only does this show character and maturity, but it also suggests that their manager trusts them to perform in various different roles, pointing towards a deep skillset. As detailed via Transfermarkt , of Osborne's 43 Lowland League career appearances, he's played 23 times at centre-back as well as five times in defensive midfield. The teenager has also operated as a central midfielder on three occasions, and once as both a left-back and a right winger respectively. Leeds United have Alfie Osborne plan to sanction Sebastiaan Bornauw exit Osborne was honoured multiple times in 2025-26 2025-26 saw Osborne, who stands at around 6'4" tall, make 28 Lowland League appearances for Hearts B. Not only did he captain the side to Hearts' first Scottish Youth Cup win in 26 years, he also scooped numerous prizes at their end-of-season awards ceremony. Osborne was named as Hearts B team Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year respectively. So, it's abundantly clear how highly he's regarded at the Edinburgh-based club, with his versatility and leadership qualities showing exactly why Leeds need to be at the front of the queue for his services this summer.

MOT View: PL rival's links with Leeds player could date back to first-ever moment 6 years ago

Bruno Fernandes previously hailed Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow for pulling off a first ever during a previous clash with Manchester United . Darlow has been linked with a shock transfer to Leeds' fierce rivals Manchester United. The Wales international is out of contract at Elland Road in the coming weeks and is therefore able to join another team for free. Leeds would no doubt love to keep hold of the goalkeeper after his impressive campaign last time out That is despite Darlow starting the season as third choice behind Lucas Perri and Illan Meslier . And it is fair to say Darlow has caught the eye against Man United with his past displays. Karl Darlow pulled off a Premier League first vs Bruno Fernandes Darlow was between the sticks for Leeds in their famous win at Old Trafford not too long ago. He does not have all good memories at Old Trafford, however, having shipped four time there in a game while at Newcastle United in 2020. However, Darlow did save a Fernandes penalty that day, making him the first keeper to do so in the Premier League. Speaking after that game, Fernandes said: "Congratulations to [Darlow]. He is the first goalkeeper in the Premier League to save a penalty from me." Clearly that moment will not be remembered by the Man United transfer chiefs who want Darlow at Old Trafford this summer. Rather, it will be the 35-year-old's displays for Leeds, particularly towards the end of the campaign as the Whites stayed in the Premier League. Karl Darlow leaves Leeds United no choice with contract decision after Brighton heroics Why Leeds would only have themselves to blame for Darlow exit While the ins and outs of any contract talks between Leeds and Darlow are not public, it is disappointing a deal was not already in place. Leeds could ideally do with signing another goalkeeper this summer given Perri did not live up to expectation. But as things stand, Darlow would be number one come the opening day of next season Unfortunately for Leeds, they now risk not only losing him, but losing him to a fierce rival. Let's just hope for Leeds' sake that Darlow can be talked into staying on at Elland Road.

'It will be exciting' - Leeds star hints at Elland Road stay with latest comments

Gabriel Gudmundsson 's future could have been a potential question mark at Leeds United . The Swedish star was signed from Lille last summer in a £10million deal and has not put a foot wrong, making 32 Premier League appearances. He is already one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and it looked like the Whites may have had a battle on their hands to keep hold of him. Former Peacocks defender Stephen Warnock claimed in May that rivals from the top-flight may look to move for the 27-year-old. However, the player's latest comments have hinted that is happy to stay where he is and is not looking to move on soon. That should provide relief to Elland Road supporters who may have feared Gudmundsson being poached before the new season. What did Gudmundsson say about his future at Leeds United? Gudmundsson opened up on his time at Leeds so far in an interview with an outlet from his homeland. Speaking to Svenska Dagbladet on 9 June ahead of the World Cup, he said: “The goal was to help the club stay [in the division]. “Everything has felt good, it will be exciting to see what we can do further down the line with the group we have.” Asked about the fans, he said: “They have been supportive all season, absolutely fantastic. “From the first day I arrived, they have been a big factor in the success we have had.” That suggests that he is not looking to seek a departure this summer, as Warnock may had expected. While he did not directly say that he is staying, the line about the future being exciting suggests he wants to. Gabriel Gudmundsson reacts to contract news as Leeds United cooking Why Gudmundsson's comment are perfect timing for Leeds The timing of Gudmundsson's comments could not have been better for the LS11 club. With the World Cup on the horizon, there will be plenty of eyes on the left-back, and that could have drummed up interest in his services. However, he seems to have committed his future to the Whites for the foreseeable future, which may put any clubs who he may have gathered attention from, off an approach. The Whites would have been able to knock them back anyway, as he is under contract until 2029, but his comments make their position even stronger. It looks as though the defender is going nowhere, even if there is offers to take him away from Yorkshire. It would take a very convinving offer to change that, and given his age profile and stance on an exit, they may not come, which is great news for Daniel Farke's side. They would not want to lose the Swede, as he has proven to be a brilliant piece of business in his short time with the club.

MOT View: Leeds have to agree another new contract now, sickening move is possible

Leeds United have a new urgency when it comes to Karl Darlow's contract situation. The goalkeeper is out of contract later this month and no deal has been agreed to keep him at Elland Road. Darlow forced his way into the starting line-up this season, making 22 Premier League appearances, as new signing Lucas Perri was not up the standard. It is unfathomable that he could be allowed to leave for free in a few weeks time, especially given his position in the squad at the moment. However, it is even more unpalatable that Manchester United could end up being his destination. That would be the ultimate betrayal for many supporters in LS11, and would be an absolute sickener. Could Manchester United actually sign Leeds star Karl Darlow ? Leeds want Darlow to remain and are expected to offer him a new deal to stay around beyond the end of the season. However, United are considering a move for the 35-year-old, according to a report from The Athletic on 9 June. The Red Devils are looking for a backup with experience and homegrown status, but it can't be the Welsh star. Man United weigh up Karl Darlow transfer as Leeds feelings revealed That should be dismissed out of hand and the Peacocks should convince him to commit his future to them as soon as possible and wrap up the situation. Why a move to Man United would hurt Leeds fans A move to Man United specifically would hurt Peacocks fans more than most other clubs. The Whites have a passionate rivalry with the Old Trafford side, dating back to tensions between their respective counties, Yorkshire and Lancashire. That has reared its head again recently, with the Yorkshire outfit returning to the Premier League, and losing their starting goalkeeper to the Manchester side is not an option. Darlow would be much better served staying and starting every week, than sitting on the bench under Senne Lammers, so hopefully he will agree to fresh terms with Farke's side. The alternative is making a move that would see his name forever be tarnished with the supporters that have taken to him recently and embraced him as one of their own. Why would he give that up to play second fiddle, only he can answer that question, if he ends up making the move across the Pennines. Ethan Ampadu has signed on the dotted line, now it's time for Darlow to do exactly the same.

Man United plot Leeds swoop as Elland Road feelings revealed - report

Manchester United are reportedly mulling over a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow. The 35-year-old wasn't tipped for a much larger role than the number two at Elland Road last season, with Lucas Perri arriving to claim the starting position. However, the Brazilian endured a challenging debut campaign in West Yorkshire, with Daniel Farke eventually dropping him at the start of 2026. Darlow evolved into Leeds' number one shot-stopper as a result, and his performances have seemingly caught the attention of rival clubs looking for a goalkeeping bargain. That's because the Wales international is out of contract with the Whites at the end of this month, leaving his future firmly up in the air. And now, pressure appears to have been applied on Leeds to take contract action on their veteran keeper. Leeds want Karl Darlow to stay as Man Utd ready move Whilst he's not a long-term option for Leeds due to his age, Darlow certainly proved last season that he's still got enough left in the tank to be a quality option for them between the sticks. It would seem that other clubs would feel that way about the Welshman if he was in their team as well, as Elland Road chiefs prepare for contract competition. A report from The Athletic has claimed that bitter rivals Man United are exploring the possibility of a move for Darlow this summer. Karl Darlow risk grows at Leeds United as Tottenham transfer still on cards It's reported that the Red Devils are looking for a veteran backup option in goal, and so the potential to sign Darlow on a free could make a lot of sense for them. However, the report also claims that Leeds do indeed wish to keep hold of him beyond this summer, and that fresh terms are expected to be offered. Would Man Utd be a good move for Darlow? Seeing a quality performer leave Elland Road for Old Trafford would hurt the Leeds faithful, and that will no doubt be in Darlow's mind if and when the Red Devils make their move. And whilst the allure of what comes with being a Man United player would attract the vast majority of players, it may not be a wise move for Darlow. Senne Lammens is set as their number one goalkeeper for the foreseeable future, and Altay Bayindir is still contracted with them until next summer. Should Darlow remain with Leeds, however, he's more than likely to retain his starting gloves for next season, in what has the potential to be a big campaign for the Whites. Therefore, when weighing up the pros and cons, there are certainly more than enough advantages of sticking with Leeds to convince him to snub any Old Trafford approach.

Leeds set to sign young Man United talent, it's 'unbelievable' signing - report

Leeds United have promised to be meticulous with their transfer work this summer. After securing safety in the Premier League with weeks to spare, the Whites started preperation for another year at the top table early. Paraag Marathe confirmed that Leeds will be looking to add more star quality around an already solid foundation. That started with a new contract for Ethan Ampadu , with the captain sticking around until 2030. And with eyes already on climbing the Premier League table, the final third is an obvious area for more quality and depth. But, that may start with Silva Mexes and the academy at Thorp Arch. Leeds United to seal Silva Mexes transfer Leeds are yet to make significant progress on first-team signings, but the academy is already set to be boosted. The Talent Hunter, known for their great work and insight on academies in England, has reported that Mexes will sign for Leeds within weeks. Described as an "unbelievable" signing, the tricky winger will leave Manchester United behind for West Yorkshire. Leeds United are set to sign 16 year-old winger Silva Mexes from Manchester United.✍️ Mexes will sign his scholarship with Leeds before signing his first professional contract once he turns 17 early next year.✅ He will be joining the U18 and U21 age groups from next season.… pic.twitter.com/6RPLl4CHiF — The Talent Hunter (@TalentHunter) June 8, 2026 Mexes will sign a scholarship deal upon his arrival, with plans already in place for his first professional contract when he turns 17 next year. Leeds will place the attacker initially in their under-18s squad, with opportunities to play higher at under-21 level, too. Leeds have long line of academy greats You only have to look back to two years ago to find Archie Gray , who enjoyed one senior season before leaving for £40million. Harry Gray is next in line, and it's a proven pathway that Leeds and Daniel Farke will reward young talents if they're good enough. Just look at the end of last season, when Farke included Rhys Chadwick, Jayden Lienou and Alfie Cresswell on the bench. Leeds frontrunners to seal Silva Mexes transfer after Man United exit developments Players like Mexes will look at that, compared to Old Trafford, and know that he has a chance of Premier League football. The recently retired James Milner is an older example, with Aaron Lennon and Fabian Delph another two successful Leeds academy graduates. Mexes will have sold all of this, and it looks to have worked, with the winger now bound for LS11. He's certainly one to watch.

MOT View: Leeds favourite could hold key to 'magic' player joining

Ethan Ampadu may just hold they key to Leeds United pulling off one of the signings of the summer in Fulham 's Harry Wilson . Wilson tailed off towards the end of the 2025-26 season but still scored 10 goals and assisted seven more in 36 Premier League appearances. The Wales international is out of contract at Craven Cottage next month, though Fulham confirmed on Monday he has been offered a new deal. It is now down to Wilson whether he signs that, but the forward is certainly not short of other options. Leeds are one of the sides to have been linked with Wilson, and they may have a helping hand in Ampadu. The Whites' skipper has already told Wilson all about Leeds in his attempt to convince his international colleague to join. What has Ethan Ampadu told Harry Wilson about Leeds? Ampadu, who last week signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road, was asked about Leeds' interest in Wilson by The Athletic . More specifically, Ampadu was asked if he is trying to convince Wilson to join him in West Yorkshire. "[I'm] trying to sell it to everyone,” Ampadu said. "It’s a pretty easy sell. Everyone knows how special a place Leeds is. "But whenever we get asked how our time is at Leeds, when we’re with Wales, we speak about it so glowingly.” Leeds fans will certainly hope Wilson takes note of that and joins not only Ampadu, but a handful of other Wales squad members at Leeds. Ethan Ampadu: Leeds will hope Wales protect Whites star as announcement made With Wilson being available for free, it is not that far-fetched to say whoever signs him is pulling off one of the coups of the summer. What has Wilson said about his future? Wilson has always been a very talented player, having come through Liverpool 's academy set-up. The 29-year-old, now in his peak years, was hailed as "magic" by Neil Harris during a loan spell at Cardiff in 2020. Wilson is vastly experienced in the Premier League and it does not look likely he will head abroad. He has not said a great amount on his future, other than he would wait to make a decision until after the season. "I feel like because the season from a personal level has been good, I kind of said I just want to concentrate on that," Wilson said in April. "And I feel like any other distractions, I don’t want my form to dip. I don’t want the focus to be on my contract. I want it to be on the team and getting results." Wilson's form did dip, not helped by being in and out of the team amid the uncertainty over his future. But he still had a very strong season and would undoubtedly instantly improve Leeds' starting line-up if he joins. Let's hope Ampadu has done enough to help do exactly that.
